Not expecting anything out of the ordinary in the only restaurant on the Hluhluwe side of the reserve, I was positvely surprised. I stopped for lunch between game drives. Whilst the restaurant does a buffet for groups, there is also a la carte on the terrace under the trees. My venison curry was excellent in both, presentation and quality of...

We stayed in one of the standard chalets - the chalet was very spacious but it clearly hadn't been decorated since the 80's. Everything looked a bit tired, dirty (from age) and various things were in a state of disrepair. There was also a musty smell. The kitchen didn't have much in the way of appliances and when I ran...

We stayed in a small rondavel for two people within Hluhluwe Reserve. The rondavel was very clean, comfortable and well equipped - all the crockery, cutlery etc you need. There is a large, very clean kitchen for use, or you can buy charcoal for a braai right outside your hut. Impala, kudu and other antelope graze right outside. The bathrooms...

I have stayed at Hilltop two different years while game viewing in HluHluwe. The chalets are well designed, clean, and comfortable for families. The restaurant evening buffet is tops with lots of different meats (some game), stews, and vegetables. We were even serenaded by the staff who performed in "Lady Smith Black Mambazo" style. The only drawback is that it...

We stayed in a large 2-bedroom house (4 beds). Well-equipped kitchen, pretty terrace with a view over the treetops, large living-room and 2 bathrooms. Everything you need for staying a week or more. For those who do not feel like cooking, restaurant buffet was nice, staff very friendly and of course the view that you can expect from a place...

We attended a wedding in KZN and did not have time in our trip to attend Kruger, so opted for Hilltop after a family friend recommended it. We spent two nights at Hluluwe, in a self-catering chalet. The accommodations were lovely and clean and we had everything we needed to cook decent meals, enjoy views from the balcony with tea,...

We are regular visitors to Kruger Park and Marakele Game reserve but hadn't visited Hluhluwe before. We spent three nights at Hiltop camp and were pleasantly surprised by the facilities. We booked one of the self-catering rondawels and found everything we needed in the unit. I took along a lot of unnecessary equpiment as I usually find self catering units...

Location of the resort is unbeatable, so are views from the hill the place is situated. It takes 30 minutes by mostly dirt road to get from the park gate what gives you a chance to spot wildlife driving your own vehicle. Meals are fine, wines seem a little overpriced. The cottage #1 was slightly smelly, we had no hot...

We spent nice time at Hilltop looking for Rhinos (we saw a lot ...). The chalets were good with nice views from the terrace. The food was average and it was nice having lunch outside. There is a good big shop with handicrafts and other tourist staff you can buy.

We spent a single night at Hilltop Camp in a rondavel before moving elsewhere in the park. The value-for-money offered by the rondavels is amazing. I'm not someone who particularly likes communal bathroom facilities - but they're good. Nothing wrong with them. The rooms are really comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant - and I have to say I...
