We stayed one night here. We had an upstairs suite which had a lovely view of the Lion mountain but it was cold and uncharming. The sheets and towels were rough and stiff but the shower had plenty of hot water, but only soap bar in bathroom. The restaurant was ok and the dinner tasty but breakfast was very uninspiring.... This hotel has a wonderful view of the mountains, but the rooms are very basic - definitely no frills here - minimal amenities, soap, shampoos and no hairdryer! Rooms on the left side of the pool have a view while the ones on the right look at a wall. During the chillier months, these rooms with tile floors are very... More

We looked at a couple of places nearby that were not good so were delighted to find such a great hotel very near to trafroute. The Dutch lady who runs it was very helpful and gave us good cycling and walking routes. A must is to take the hotel bikes along the cycle path at the painted rocks. Great setting... More

We were originally booked into a hotel in the centre of Tafraoute but our driver/guide, understanding we preferred to be in more rural settings rebooked us in to Kasbah Chez Amaliya, five to 10 kms east of town. Unlike the riads or boutique inns where we stayed elsewhere Chez Amaliya has a ‘hotel’ feel about it. The (family) suite we... More

Lovely spacious airy hotel. Great pool with fab views toward the mountains. Very attentive staff member who seemed to do everything well. Meal somewhat slow to arrive and not very big portion for 2. Room was cozy with slightly odd shower which wasn't hot. Very comfortable bed.

Ok, so there aren't really any top end hotels to choose from in this area, but we were happy to forgo our usual luxury tastes in return for some absolutely stunning scenery, and at Chez Amaliya you can't ask for a better setting! The hotel itself was basic yet comfortable and very good value for money, and although perhaps the... More

We first visited Tafraout in 1977 and fell in love with the golden mountains, hillside villages and palm treed valleys. After 38 years, it is still a magical walkers paradise. But now, the accommodations are much improved. Chez Amaliya is about 4km outside of Tafraout town with memorable mountain and hillside views. It is owned by a delightful and very... More

This is Morocco and you are hundreds of miles from anywhere so don't expect the highest of standards. Having said that Chez Amaliya (4 kilometres north of Tafraoute ) is very good for what it is. Liesbeth (the owner) speaks good English which is a bonus for us Brits who can't speak Arabic. A big plus is that the rooms... More

This Riad is located 5 km from Tafraout, in the Ameln valley. It is a big, a bit austere, building next to the road, the rooms are located around an inner patio with swimming pool. The best you can get around Tafraout and the friendly reception from the dutch lady who runs the place makes up for the rather basic... More
