Stayed 3 nights in family bungalows, which were great value, and superbly located. Gardens are really pretty and from outside the front of our bungalows there's a great view along the main street and the forested hills behind. Yes there's a steepish path to get up to them, but the payoff is the great view. An easy short walk into town, but you're away from any noise, so location is perfect I think. We were lucky with the weather in Ranomafana - apparently it rains a lot! Hosts are helpful, restaurant service was good. Our roadtrip pile of laundry came back clean and dry, very reasonably priced. (They have a VISA machine for card payment which was working at the time of our visit - this is a rarity in Madagascar!) The restaurant verandah is a lovely place to hang out. As well as the National Park day and night walks (Diamondra is a great guide), also recommend a trip to the thermal baths, arboretum, a kayak trip down the river and a meal at Le Grenat.

I’ve known this hotel since 2007. Unlike other places to stay Manja hotel though simple is always correct. The room is basic, the mattress is good and a hot shower after a walk in the humid forest is like a treat ! Everything is CLEAN : towels, bathroom, bedsheets. This is what you look to be fresh again for a long ride down South. . The staff is friendly and the food is good though not very sophisticated. If you dont look for luxury holidays this is the place to go.

Stayed as part of a group tour for one night to visit Ranomafana National Park. This place was pretty decent. Bungalows are a steep walk uphill and quite basic, but they have everything you need -- electricity, HOT shower, mozzie nets for the beds. WI-FI only in the restaurant and is very slow, but this is Madagascar. Restaurant staff friendly, food is basic but portions are plentiful and it's not expensive. I wish there's been a few more vegetarian options, but there was enough to eat. They even let us use some day rooms to shower and change after the national park hike after we'd checked out. No complaints.

Nice location on a hill but that does mean a bit of a climb to you room (about 80 steps). They have a luggage service to bring your suitcases up and down. Cottages are quite basic, the rooms in the 2 story building have a better view. Cottage was clean, only downside was that people walking to the cottages on the back row passed by much bathroom window (with clear glass). Could become a bit embarrassing. Food is great here and really cheap for large portions. And the staff is very helpful and always friendly, making jokes, etc.

the chalets are perched up the steep hillside behind the reception area so there is a considerable climb up to them especially if you are on the last row. The chalets are basic, clean and well kitted out. Bathroom was perfectly adequate and lots of hot water. Overall a fitting hotel for the location. Food in the restaurant in nothing to rave about.

This was a nice hotel in a beautiful location. There are lots of steps/hills to get up to some of the rooms so if you're not very mobile make sure they know in advance and can place you close to the restaurant/reception. The food in the restaurant was reasonable and the room we had was clean and comfortable. The wifi wasn't working while we were there but that's no big deal really. A good stay overall and somewhere I would be happy to stay again.

Rooms – each room is an individual bungalow. The rooms are pretty simple, though towels, mosquito nets and electric mosquito repellent machines are provided. Restaurant – Breakfast was simple (bread and jam). The food menu was quite varied with plenty of different options including Chinese, French and Malagasy food. General- The hotel is in a friendly location, the market in the village is interesting to walk around. There a thermal swimming baths a short walk away which are nice to visit if you have a spare couple of hours. We did a long walk through the National Park here – our guide here was Angelin, he was brilliant- ask for him if you can!

Simple, clean restaurant catering to international tourists and offering safe and hygienic standards. The right place to try Malagasy cuisine. We had rice with zebu meat, mixed salad and yoghurt for dessert. Outside Seating also available on the balcony overlooking the river and mountain. Place was full of foreigners and their drivers and guides.
