Sanctuary Chief’s Camp has twelve luxury bush pavilions, all with their own private decks as well as both indoor and outdoor showers. When visiting Sanctuary Chief’s Camp you’ll see why Conde Nast Traveler consistently rates it as one of the top safari destinations in Botswana. The camp is part of the magazine’s exclusive “Platinum Circle” in recognition of its inclusion in the prestigious Gold List for the last five consecutive years. The split-level main deck offers expansive views over the floodplain while the lower level of the deck houses an exquisite swimming pool to cool off after a day of exciting game viewing. The main area houses a bar, curio shop, library reception and dining area. For a rejuvenating pampering session, choose from a range of treatments at the camp’s treatment room. The twelve guest pavilions are nestled in a jackalberry and sausage tree woodland that is characteristic of the area. Each guest pavilion boasts an indoor and outdoor shower, a spacious seating area and a private game viewing deck overlooking the surrounding floodplains of the Okavango Delta. Sumptuous four poster beds with generously draped mosquito nets and traditional ceiling fans also feature and for your convenience, the rooms are equipped with a hairdryer, ceiling fan, room safe, emergency intercom and minibar.

Service, staff, accommodation, food all deserve the highest rating. Big Chief’s Camp is a luxurious retreat in the Okavango Moremi Game Reserve. Our stay was organized for us through Africa Travel Resources (a travel company I would definitely recommend). The guests accommodation consists of a very spacious villa with a double door private entrance, lobby with drinks, large bedroom/living with American king bed covered with a mosquito net (not that we saw mosquitoes but better be safe than sorry), walk in closet, large bathroom with stand alone bath overlooking the veranda, inside and outside showers, large patio with private splash pool, sitting and also eating area. The manager Bastidi is the driving force behind a staff offering a service that surpasses expectations. No need to ask, your needs are all catered too… Bastadi noticed I had insect bites on my feet, without me requesting anything, she offered me two antiseptic creams and a staff brought to our room hot water to be pored in a cooper (cooper is a natural antibiotic) basin all with coarse salt so that I could have feet baths. That’s going beyond the call of duty! Our guide, Chief, was also amazing, always the first to find all the animals… and thereafter calling the others, so that they come see the leopard he had found, the wild dogs, buffalos, elephants, giraffes, hippopotamus, kudus, zebras and more. In our two days stay we saw leopards three times. The last time was pretty eventful…as Chief was walking us to dinner on the guests pathway, there was a leopard walking in front of us only two meters away. Chief reassured us, insisting we keep calm but to keep close to him. We left the pathway…so the leopard wouldn’t feel cornered and took, guided by Chief’s flashlight, a secondary path in the bush to arrive at the dining area from the opposite direction. What an experience! The jeeps were first class, large and high, being capable to go through almost any terrain. The first night, when we returned to our villa a pleasant surprise was organized for us. Our housekeeper had prepared the bed with hearts, flowers, candles and a bath with overflowing foam. The table was set with candles on our private verandah. We called to make our selection from the menu and two staff came to serve us, a service at a time. The food, like always, was succulent, fit for a gourmet's palate. For breakfast and lunch, you can expect beautiful laid buffet with top quality, well prepared foods with a perfect blend of flavors plus a choice of two hot meals to choose from …as if the buffet wasn’t sufficient! Sadly, this most memorable experience had to end, but it did on a high note with a barbecue around a camp fire with all the staff singing and dancing for us. Sanctuary Chief's Camp was simply the very best!

Chiefs Camp is the best of the best. Accommodation: amazing large guests rooms with massive bathrooms, outdoor shower and incredible balconies which go right onto the game reserve. Amazing aircon and turn down service. Staff: the most wonderful, helpful staff we have ever met. Nothing was too much and also gave privacy when needed. Cocktails were on point by Percy who is a professional mixologist. Game drives: personal game drives most of the time given resort was half capacity and our guide (Tim) was the most knowledgeable guide in all of Africa. Stop researching other places this instance and book chiefs camp. You will not be disappointed and will leave with the best memories of your life!!

The 2 days we spent at Sanctuary Chief's camp in the Moremi Game reserve were amongst the best holiday experiences I can think of. Already getting there by little charter planes was an adventure. First of all, staff and service were absolutely outstanding - even a notch up the other Sanctuary camps we visited. It is expensive but when you are there you actually think its worth it! And that is not always the case;-) From our arrival to the departure everything worked seamlessly. A highlight: the Valentibes Day suprise in the middle of the bush. Very good receiption, everything was well explained. Organization of the game drives and come-backs to the camp were impeccable. None of the animals are chipped, so the guides rely on pathfinder skills to find the animals. Even though we arrived off-season and the vegetation makes it harder to find the animals, we saw everything we hoped for. Lions already close to the camp, lots of elephants, buffalo, girafe etc. A very special thanks to the guides which were not only knowledgeable, friendly, professional but also caring and patient (as they were basically responsible for our wellbeing until we finally went to bed...) The accommodation is absolutly fantastic. Huge, super luxury inside, big terrace, private plunge pool, overlooking a big open area, where you can get lucky to see wildlife passing by. There is WiFi in the tents, but nowehere else in the camp. Food is fabulous especially given that everything has to be delivered weekly or monthly by truck or plane. The camp is all about game driving. All needed are the becessary outdoor clothes, sunglasses, sun hats and off you go. Mornings start early at 5:30. It is also the only Sactuary camp that offers a gym (useful and nice!) as well as a TV room for those, who cannot live without. We would go back any time, already missing the place!

This review is long overdue, but it's not at all a testament to the incredible experience we had on our honeymoon at Chief's Camp and a more a testament to real life getting in the way. We had a magnificent honeymoon at Chief's Camp. From the moment we were collected at the airstrip, we were welcomed by the talented staff--among them, David, Catherine, and Basadi. The game drives were phenomenal, all thanks to our ranger, Skye, who was an absolute legend. Ranger and tracker all in one, Skye predicted what every animal would do minutes before they did it. He was determined to make sure that each guest saw their top choices and thanks to his superb instincts, we were never disappointed by what we found. There is a reason the Delta is renowned for its game viewing. This was my third safari and my husband's first, and the things he saw on his very first game drive took me several drives to see. The saddest thing to mention is that the Delta in particular has experienced a severe drought and while it didn't impact our game viewing, it was heartbreaking to see the severe loss of habitat for animals. The camp is usually still flooded in September, as it is the high season, but unfortunately it was bone dry--so no mokoro rides. High concentrations of animals will gather in the small watering holes left, so you'll have plenty of photo opportunities. Know that this pristine environment is being impacted so acutely by climate change...and while it won't affect your enjoyment of your trip, it will definitely make you stop and think. All in all, Chief's Camp staff did everything they could to ensure a luxury experience from start to finish. Percy, our bartender, remembered our drink orders and always kept us hydrated. The meals were delicious and our rooms were beautiful. David saw to our every whim and he even surprised us with dinner under the stars. We were beyond thrilled with our stay at Chief's Camp and if we're lucky enough, it won't be our last!

Our family of 5 stayed at this amazing lodge for 3 nights and we all loved it so much that we wanted to tell you about it. I had read about the lodge and had very high expectations before coming and did not think they could be succeeded, but they truly were. Annemie (GM) and the rest of the Chief’s Team gave our family the best experience we ever had on a family holiday. The warmth in service and welcoming nature of the whole team made us feel super at home and extremely spoilt. Nothing was too much trouble and there before you even knew you wanted it! The food was varied, beautifully presented, creative, super fresh and simply delicious! The best we had on our 2 week trip in lodges in Zimbabwe and Botswana. The rooms are enormous and very private with your own deck and plunge pool over looking the beautiful countryside with it’s many animals. They are beautifully designed with lots of light and natural timbers. You’ll love it! Our guide, was out of of this world, super sharp eyes, very knowledgeable and a very good driver too. We saw all we still needed to tick off, including White Rhinos, wild dogs fighting over a kill, a honey badger and to top it all, 2 Leopards fighting each other in the top of a tree! We could not believe our eyes! On our last night, the lodge surprised us with their choir singing and dancing just for us to say a very moving goodbye. We loved every minute of it and this will stay in our hearts & memories for sure! There is so much more I could mention, such as the hot chocolates and warm towels on arrival after a wet afternoon drive, the beautiful displays on the beds, fab cocktail making skills, etc. ...... We’d love to come back in the future and like to say a massive thank you to Annemie and the whole team for taking such great care of us during our stay! The McDonalds ❤️
