I visited in March 2017 (trip advisor wouldn't allow me to put in 2017 so i wrote 2018) with my husband and two older teens and have been meaning to write a review ever since because this place deserves to be reviewed. The care that...More

This would have to rate as a highlight of our Patagonian trip to Chile and Argentina. It was a truly special experience and so beautiful that you felt you were living in a screen shot. We would love to return to the family who has...More

There are no words to truly capture the beauty and tranquility of this lodge. You can tell the Owners, Pato and Ivor, have put their heart and soul into creating a sanctuary where you can become one with nature. The only way to get to...More

Its not like a hotel, its more like a big home, with family and friends to help you relax and explore. The owners are wonderful and very helpful in making arrangements. The hotel is well outside Chalten. If you plan to explore Chalten and hike...More

I think superlatives do not do this lodge justice. Sitting in front of the fire looking out on the mountains and glaciers, trekking and hiking to beautiful lakes through lush green forests and magnificent waterfalls and then the food and the service and the rooms...More

HI again everyone... This is the original plan: Option 1 El Chalten (Mirador Los Condores) El Chalten (Fitz Roy) El Chalten (Lago Del Desierto) El Chalten (Loma del Pliegue Tombado) El Calafate (via La Leona) Estancia Cristina Estancia Cristina - back to El Calafate Perito Moreno And the only other thing which works might be this: Option 2 Aguas Arriba - arrive 6pm ish Aguas Arriba - glacier hike Aguas Arriba - 3hr hike back in afternoon & return El Chalten El Chalten (Loma del Pliegue Tombado) El Chalten Laguna Capri, 6pm transfer to El Calafate Estancia Cristina Estancia Cristina - back to El Calafate Perito Moreno 2nd option cuts out some hiking in El Chalten and might be too rushed... what does anyone think? Clearly, both are great options but which would anyone enjoy the most given the amount of travelling. Also, if the weather is terrible, then we have no room for spare days in El Chalten... So stupid of me as i could have just done it a couple of days longer.... what does anyone reckon? Which to do? Not sure I'd come back as I have about 100 other places in the world on my bucket list!! So what must I include?! Thank you, all!

How important is hiking the Fitzroy trail to you? If it is, then option 1 it should be. I admire your determination and enthusiasm. I, myself, am not physically capable of tackling all the hikes you have planned, so it... More

I am biased to Aguas Arriba as it is much more personable and if you have done the Moreno Glacier and seen the icebergs walking through the beautiful, forests and waterfall as around Aquas Arriba will provide a different... More
