Really friendly family running this tasteful, upscale hostel.  The double room we booked on the top floor had a great view of the Fitz Roy.  I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the rustic decor with the bare minimum/essentials (no frilks), tasteful decor and the lemon-y cake offered at breakfast!  The only disappointing thing was that, despite us booking several weeks earlier (via Hostelworld),... Stayed at La Guanaca during the off season but it turned out to be a great find. The staff were friendly and helpful. The kitchen could have used a few more appliances but we were still able to cook meals. Centrally located and great spot to reach the major hikes. One big bummer was the wifi wasn't working well.

This hostel in el Chalten was perfect for us, we originally booked to stay for two nights but extended it by another 3 because we loved the area so much. Our hosts, Victoria and Marcelo were absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast was simple but adequate, the only downside was that the kitchen was very... More

We host and hostess were a delight during our 5 night stay and made our stay very enjoyable. We had booked several months ahead of time, before the currency devaluation, and they basically honored the price we had been quoted. Others in the country backed away from their commitments but not these folks, and for this we are appreciative. Our... More

We enjoyed our stay here. Decent size room with a nice big bed, perfect after a long days hike. Close enough to the Main Street with restaurants and grocery stores, but quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. Only con would be the wifi didn't really work...but this seemed to be less of a Guanaca thing and more of... More

We stayed at La Guanaca for six nights around christmas. The room was not too big but sufficient, clean and nicely decorated and we had a nice view of the Fitz Roy. There is a kitchen with basic equipment which we used every day for cooking! There is a small fridge where you can store food. For breakfast, most of... More

La Guanaca is a essential and typical El Chalten B&B. Rooms are clean and the view on Fitz Roy is superb. Breakfast is simple but effective. It is located at walking distance from bakery, laundry, restaurants and trekking paths. Beside the hardware features, La Guanaca owners are incredibly kind and available, they help us out in managing trip issues (even... More

La Guanaca is a very nice and cosy hostel. The rooms have a view on the Fitz Roy and are very characteristic, clean and cosy. Breakfast is good with tasty homemade cake and the owners are really kind, helpful and very attentive (even put our two twin beds together with sheets for a double bed). A superb place to stay... This place feels like a zimmer in Europe! The rooms are clean, pretty and cozy. Bathroom and room are cleaned every day. There's a well equipped kitchen open 24h, no restrictions. The owner is very pleasant and nice. You get a descent place for a fair price. There's a nice view from the balcony and a tasty restaurant just downstairs.
