La Guanaca Hostal was an absolute hidden gem. When we arrived we never thought we'd have such an amazing room from the first impression we got of the outside of the building. My friend, sister and I stayed in a three bed room and it was gorgeous. We absolutely loved our cosy room and the location of the hostel was...

Very good service - helpful staff, clean rooms and great breakfast. Wifi works great, something to consider in El Chalten where there is no cellphone reception. Even though it is not located at the main street, it is close to everything: restaurants, bars, bus station and trail entrances

The family that runs la guanaca welcomed us warmly into one of their newly renovated room with 3 beds. He even set out coffee and juice for us at 6am before our hike which was a god-send after a long day of driving and a very late meal. If you're judging it from the outside - don't - La guanaca...

The room was warm and cosy and they let us check in at 9 am. When they heard I was a coeliac they made sure I had some fruit to eat in the mornings. It is very central and there is a nice deck. I would go back here if I ever visited again.

We booked our stay on hostels.com, but the place is more like a B&B. Not only it serves an Argentinean breakfast, but the rooms are small and comfy, with tasty decor. We loved the fluffy comforters and hot water. The staff were friendly and helpful. Kitchen is rather small, with a small fridge and only few pots and pans, so...

Really friendly family running this tasteful, upscale hostel.  The double room we booked on the top floor had a great view of the Fitz Roy.  I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the rustic decor with the bare minimum/essentials (no frilks), tasteful decor and the lemon-y cake offered at breakfast!  The only disappointing thing was that, despite us booking several weeks earlier (via Hostelworld),...

Stayed at La Guanaca during the off season but it turned out to be a great find. The staff were friendly and helpful. The kitchen could have used a few more appliances but we were still able to cook meals. Centrally located and great spot to reach the major hikes. One big bummer was the wifi wasn't working well.

This hostel in el Chalten was perfect for us, we originally booked to stay for two nights but extended it by another 3 because we loved the area so much. Our hosts, Victoria and Marcelo were absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast was simple but adequate, the only downside was that the kitchen was very...

We host and hostess were a delight during our 5 night stay and made our stay very enjoyable. We had booked several months ahead of time, before the currency devaluation, and they basically honored the price we had been quoted. Others in the country backed away from their commitments but not these folks, and for this we are appreciative. Our...
