A consistent friendly Hotel. Excellent food, atmosphere and service. The town is small but a bijou place to visit at any time of the year and any visit would be enhanced by calling at the Bear for coffee ,lunch or dinner. Have only ever eaten here but I am sure the rooms would equal the standard of the dining areas.

After really looking forward to supper here with some friends, I was greatly disappointed with both the food and the cold and clinical upstairs setting. The bar downstairs is always welcoming and bustling but we were seated upstairs in a room with no outlook and chairs covered in white nylon covers stretched and pinned under the legs. It reminded me...

We had an overnight stay at the bear before taking up our holiday cottage on the canal. We stayed in a courtyard room, which was immaculate and there was no hesitation in allowing our dog to stay with us... he was made as welcome as we were! Dinner and breakfast were excellent... the dog thought so too, as he got...

We travel through Crickhowell frequently enroute to Pembrokeshire from Norfolk. Food is always good and service efficient & friendly. Travelling alone this time I decided to break the long journey by staying at The Bear. I received a lovely welcome and my allocated room in the annexe building was very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty. We will definitely be staying here...

A group of us stayed at the Bear for New Year and were delighted with the whole event. We had booked the Gala dinner and arrived with a little trepidation as to what to expect as we could find no information about the form of the evening either from the website or by ringing the hotel. However, we needn't have...

We visited here for our evening meal while staying in another hotel in the Brecon Beacons. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. My wife and I both had a steak and it was perfect. Times between courses was not rushed nor were we waiting forever. Staff were attentive but not not overly. Would highly recommend!

We really do love the bear. Have been on numerous occasions and wanted to visit at Christmas time to see the lovely decorations. We had a main meal and dessert and both courses were delicious. I cannot wait for our next visit - looking for the perfect excuse to celebrate and come down again!

Although very busy we were advised a 45 minutes wait which is good because you're not left in the dark as to when the meal is due. Very nice Sheppy's mulled cider washed down the Cumberland sausage ring and the Parmigiana delicious! Old fashioned charm 😃
