The location of the Caledonian Hotel is its biggest selling point, it is literally 2 minutes walk away from the harbour & ferry terminal, with shops and banks on your doorstep. The hotel itself is perfectly adequate, my room was a decent size, perfectly clean and the large bathroom was spotless. The public areas are also clean and tidy and...

What a disappointment from the peeling wallpaper to the thread bare carpets this hotel is old and dismal. And it gets worse, the food is poorly cooked and tasteless, and the restaurant staff seem to have had no training whatsoever in serving food. Ullapool is a good base but stay away from this hotel.

If you want a one night stop before going to Lewis/ Harris, it will do. Rooms are basic and dining is poor. Use a any other restaurant in Ullapool for food. If possible stay out of Ullapool, not much to do.

A 2 night DBB deal bought through Easybreaks took us up to Ullapool during October. Only read reviews after our visit and I don't believe the negative reviews are totally justified. Yes it is an old hotel full of character and bits and pieces could be updated but you get what you pay for and negative reviews for paying a...

We stayed here last week, and we wish we hadn't of bothered. We have been to Ullapool many times over the years, but this was the first and last time we will stay at The Caledonian. Check in was straight forward enough. We walked into the room (room 12) and it was like walking into a nightmare. The bed was...

Faultless, friendly, helpful and welcoming service from all staff encountered The reception staff, the dining room staff and the room service staff all very efficient and guest orientated making for a very pleasant and relaxed weeks stay. Food quality nothing short of excellent, and lots of it too. Fantastic sleep quality after days out on the surrounding hills.

Ok it needed updating but the price was right. The room was small but adequate. The breakfast was very filling but always the same and no yogurt ever. We enjoyed the evening musician in the lobby. Great location and free parking. The staff were nice and free wifi worked great in the lobby. Pack lightly, no elevator.
