Arrived to a warm welcome, lovely staff. Hotel very quirky and if you don't have an issue with the carpets in public areas needing a good hoover you will love it. The actual rooms are lovely very clean and maintained, rough round the edges but prefer it to run of the mill holiday inn any day. Views spectacular all times...

Fabulously tasty seafood pizza served on the sunny terrace overlooking the quaint old harbour. Lovely place, friendly hosts and speedy service. Just a flying visit but next time we will book an overnight stay.

Millers advertise a movie and a meal for Wednesday and Sunday evenings. We booked for April 9th and left a phone number. We were advised to arrive at 1830 as the film was at 2000 hrs. We duly arrived at 1830 to blank looks from the gent on reception. The speakers were broken and apparently the receptionist should have phoned...

We spent two nights at this hotel last week and it is truly delightful. Some people below have said quirky! Well yes, although I would say different. It is set near the waters edge and the rooms at the front have a beautiful view of the Bristol Channel. The whole property is filled with antiques and curios which make some...

Dear Julian Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry that your stay was not to our usual standard. I do feel it unfair that you say nobody showed any sign of concern for your complaint as as soon as it was made we attempted to remedy it by bringing back the housekeeper to square your room to a better standard...

We stayed here for one night last week and loved the hotel. The staff were really welcoming and although we didn't have dinner in the hotel, afternoon tea with cake, and breakfast couldn't be faulted. The location is perfect and our room (room 3) overlooking the harbour was great. Reading previous reviews I was expecting shabby chic, but there was...

Quirky is a frequently used word by other reviewers, with good reason. This hotel is definitely different. We found it relaxing and homely with very friendly staff. Our room overlooking the harbour was comfortable and quiet. The food was interesting, ok but not great. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would return.

To start this hotel is in a fantastic location and Porlock Weir is a tremendous place to stay! The hotel is "bonkers" with antiques & oddness everywhere you look. The candles, real fires & decor really creates an unique atmosphere which I really loved! A great place to relax and kick back in the lounges. This hotel has been created...

Start with the positives - this is a great quirky hotel, right at the weir and dog-friendly to boot. We had room 7 with a fantastic view to the sea, albeit it had the smallest shower room/toilet I've ever encountered - the sink was in the main room as there wasn't room for it near the loo. It was a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
For over 200 years the Anchor has served Porlock Weir's 15th-century harbor for sailors, walkers and huntsmen alike. Where Exmoor meets the sea, Porlock Weir is an idyllic working harbor with stunning coastal views. Martin Miller together with his daughter Tanya have created a hunting lodge by the sea. This 14-bedroom hotel is crammed with Martin's antiques and curiosities. The Anchor has all the hallmarks of his unique style. Roaring log fires, candlelit sensuality, books by the thousand and bowls of fruit and sweets, all washed down with a Millers award winning Gin and tonic. ... more   less
