So disappointed with our meal after reading good reviews on trip advisor. The staff were very warm and welcoming and all was well until the meal arrived. A bland pork loin that was served with bland cabbage and bland potatoes with a very watery sauce. 2 dry fillets of sea bass plonked on top of a bowl of what appeared to be something like birds eye steamed rice garnished with a wedge of lemon! As for pudding the Eton mess cheesecake devoid of meringue and looked like it had come out of a box from Iceland (possibly an insult to Iceland). Very inappropriately priced for the quality of meal and felt completely ripped off.
Looking for somewhere to have Sunday Lunch, called here at the last minute as was passing Alnmouth & the staff were really accommodating. Very helpful & friendly & nothing was too much for them. Between us we had a pork & beef Sunday lunch & an adult & kids scampi, everything was delicious. Would love to return here & definitely recommend.
Tried to get a drink but was twice told no. First time there was no tables free even though ‘breakfast’ material was set up on one table . This was 9.30 on a Sunday night before a Bank Holiday. Second time at 1010 was not served as ‘tills had been closed for the night’. We decided to leave it as obviously did not want business. Strange after Covid but anyway Hope and Anchor very accommodating and helpful
Stopped in here for a couple of meals while we were staying just outside Alnmouth. Typical pub food menu but all cooked to a high standard (chips were excellent) An impressive range of drinks on tap and behind the bar. Staff were friendly and attentive.
If you are staying in Alnmouth or nearby, I would certainly recommend you dine here. The atmosphere is great, staff very welcoming and friendly. The food is amazing and very well cooked. My friend and I were staying in Alnmouth for a short weekend break and we dined here twice. Friday, steak night! Perfectly cooked and exceptional value for money.
