We stayed for 7 nights and had no complaints on any aspect from breakfast to supper. The rooms were comfortable and all the staff were friendly and efficient. Also a lovely location from which to explore Northmberland and to return at the end of the day

Great pub for a spot of lunch. Bar menu paninis are a feast and the side of chips were great. Food is all freshly made so you wait a little longer but well worth the wait. Guffed afterwards. Beer garden at the rear and family friendly.

Stayed for 3 nights to walk the coast, visit the local castles and of course enjoy the local food and drink. The room was clean, had a comfortable bed and was quiet. We tried the restaurant 1st night for convenience but were so impressed with the quality of the food and service that we ate there all 3 nights. Fish... More

Still the best pub in Alnmouth but at £3.60 for an average pint it is getting close to ridiculous especially when the Grays inn, a good beer guide pub, in Embletoin is £3 a pint for superior beer. having said that it is still cheaper than the other two pubs in the village. Also having to listen to the chef... More

We were a group of 4 cyclists who stayed one night at the Inn, and had a wonderful dinner there as well. All staff we met were very helpful and friendly. They fed us despite our late arrival, and the food was incredible, with a cozy atmosphere. The rooms were excellent and we all had a great sleep with no... More

This pub is great! There is a cosy bar and an attractive restaurant with a remarkably comfortable atmosphere. We had a beautiful, spacious and luxurious room and other guests said their rooms were lovely too. Breakfasts were excellent and we had two dinners there too which were both outstanding. The staff were efficient and friendly what else can I say?

My Family and I have had numerous stays here over the years . Mac and Jane have put up with us for which we are all grateful, even allowing us to build a raft in the car park at one point ! The fact that the rooms are fresh and clean and airy and the food and beer are amongst... More

Although it was early May the landlord had got a fire burning as there was a cold wind blowing off the coast. Staff were helpful and they allow dogs which is always a good sign when you've had an energetic walk on the beach with a dog and in need of lunch. The service was good, and speedy. The sandwich... Highly recommend . Alnmouth such a central place to stay and the red lion is definitely worth staying. Rooms very high standard very friendly staff breakfasts enormous the scrambled egg with smoked salmon fabulous. Older world atmosphere in the pub but rooms super modern and clean. Tea coffee biscuits in room . Offered everything we wanted.

Visited the Red Lion a couple of times during a stay at the Saddle B&B nearby. We enjoyed the friendly and cheerful atmosphere. The food was excellent and so was the beer. The Tuesday evening quiz is good too.
