Comfortable, warm, friendly and the most delicious cakes we have ever had! Everything about Waterford House is perfect. What a shame the owners are retiring and we won't be able to sample their lovely B & B again!

Absolutely fantastic! Can't think of any other way to describe everything about this place. The owners are possibly the nicest hoteliers I've ever met. Warm and welcoming. The whole building was spotless with not a speck of dust anywhere. Breakfast was amazing and plenty of it. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in this part of the sales, look... More

Excellent in every aspect. A lovely setting and a warm welcome. The room was first class. Booked because of other good reviews and we were not disappointed. The breakfast choice was extensive a real treat to be presented with a piping hot full English or should I say full Yorkshire !! Highly recommended

3 nights over August Bank Holiday very spacious and comfortable, and the proprietors could not be more helpful. The rear garden was a surprise very nicely kept and some interesting history to the previous uses of this property

It would be difficult to find a better place to stay than Waterford House. The hosts are welcoming (with tea and cakes on arrival and more in the room), helpful and friendly. We stayed in room 3, which was luxurious and beautifully designed. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Our first visit will not be our last!

Truly outstanding - the whole experience from arrival to departure was faultless. Other reviews have covered much (tea & cakes on arrival, sherry in the rooms, superb breakfasts, etc) and all that was excellent but what took it beyond that was the overall atmosphere/ambience. Part "country house", part boutique hotel, part fine dining and part clearly well-loved family home, there... More

We stayed for two nights at the superb Waterford House and could not fault it on any level. The house is in the perfect setting right on the village square and we were able to watch the horses from our window every day and also see Middleham life going by. Our room was lovely, with an extremely comfortable four poster... More

Stayed here for 1 night, over the bank holiday weekend & can't praise it enough. The welcome you receive is beyond warm, greeted with tea & homemade cakes. We were given a free upgrade to a four poster room & breakfast was something else, probably the best we have experienced when we have been away before, the choice was amazing.... More

We had a wonderful overnight stay at Waterford House recently on the occassion of my husband's 50th birthday. We stayed in beautiful Room 2 complete with a very comfortable four poster bed, sherry, homemade cakes and chocolates in the room and a great view over the square of the horses heading up to the gallops. It is hard to find enough superlatives to describe this B&B. Our room at the top of the house was simply stunning - beautifully furnished and decorated without amazing attention to detail. Martin, our host could not have been more attentive. The experience was one of the best we have had - and the breakfast was astonishing. Truly a great... More
