Wondered into the bar here- what a perfect place! Two cozy comfy chairs to kick back in after a long day of travel with our pints. Some interesting bits to munch on- mushrooms and gravy on toast - not sure of name- fresh prawns as well. Just the environment we were looking for and a helpful staff as well- would... More

Nice Cider (Dunkertons) shame about the food. £15:50 for a pork chop on cabbage! Rip off prices. My partner had french fries with her cod. Meals only to be remembered to avoid. A let down for such a lovely village. We will avoid the food next time.

For the price it is pretty good, Sky TV, good food, continental breakfast. I would query some of the prices for the food- some of it is a bit silly and the sommelier seems a bit out his depth. Ideally located but underneath the pretty décor is a tired building that could do with some work. I would stay again... More

Wow, what more can I say. The staff at the hotel welcomed me in (all well trained and attentive). I was shown my room, a stunning room with a beautiful bath tub overlooking the village. Breakfast was delicious, option of continental (massive choice) or to choose a paid breakfast. The hotel was very accommodating, I had friends caught in traffic... More

We had a wonderful stay at The Wheatsheaf. James and all the staff were excellent, incredibly helpful and attentive. Our room was lovely with an especialy comfortable bed and brilliant monsoon shower. The food was sublime and we would highly recommend anyone to visit.

We stayed in room 9 which had a king size bed and a stand alone bath and separate shower. The room overlooked the pub garden. The windows just had Roman blinds which had to be pulled down even during the day because of people being able to look up to the window. We noticed there was no wardrobe or chest... More

Amazing food and drinks, pricey but worth every penny! Our room was beautiful, with thoughtful little details! The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was like heaven!!! The staff are so friendly and helpful! The service was a little slow but they more then made up for it! We will defiantly be returning but requesting a room with a... More

Our final evening meal on a Cotswold trip and we'd chosen the Wheatsheaf from several reviews. I was a bit anxious as it behaved expensive but the food was excellent. My wife the vegetarian was particularly pleased. And at the end the bill was perfectly reasonable : although I've always thought charging you fixed service based on both food and... More

We're regulars and locals but might have to reconsider the former! Went for dinner this evening following a busy day with the family- first waiter ( red head) who took our order at the bar was excellent- downhill service wise after that from the alternative waiter. My husband's dinner plate was taken away from him without a word before he... More

We stayed in The Wheatsheaf for two nights in June, and we couldn't have been happier with our stay. A beautiful country pub with lovely individual rooms and delicious food. Its a very warm and cosy pub with a sitting room and lovely garden so you really do feel at home. I would definitely ask for a room with a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In years gone by the Wheatsheaf Inn hosted large parties in the hall above the stables below where the teams of horses and coaches would be kept and above blindingly drunken parties would be held where coachmen, travellers and mysterious highwaymen would drink (the water wasn’t much good so it was mostly yards of ale), dance, tell tales, sing and generally be very badly behaved. The hall is now bedrooms but in the private dining room we still hold feasts where you can do the same thing. Whole suckling pigs or large joints of beef will be carried in, copious amounts of wine will be drunk and they you can just crawl upstairs to one of our 14 beautiful bedrooms. A feast may be a bit too much food on a normal night so you can also opt for simple bar snacks from £5 for something delicious on toast. All the food comes from our amazing suppliers, some is organic, some is not but mostly it is local and seasonal and is cooked by Anthony, Tim and the Wheatsheaf’s talented team of chefs. We are child and dog friendly and have a great garden. The inn in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds in the historic market town of Northleach. It is within easy reach of Cirencester, Cheltenham and Oxford and about 1 1/2 hours drive from London. ... more   less
