We've just spent a wonderful weekend at the Samuel Pepys Hotel in Harwich. The rooms are extremely clean, comfortable and spacious. Tracey, Sophie and the rest of the staff are professional, friendly and can't do enough for you. The food is good too. Huge plates and delicious to boot!! I had the Crab and Crayfish with new potatoes and home... More

We were a little underwhelmed with our room (room number 1 - top attic floor - hot and small) but it was the last room they had and they had warned us it was a twin room in advance (they pushed the beds together). The staff are really friendly and helpful however and made the stay very pleasant. Dinner was... More

Maybe be small but had a very large welcome and looked after well by attentive staff. Stayed here with relatives, we had several rooms and all good standard, very comfortable, modern facilities and clean. Great value and the bar offered a good menu and a substantial continental breakfast in the morning. Would definitely return based on the welcome and attentiveness... More

Stayed here using a "buy a gift" voucher. We booked very last minute but luckily they had a room spare albeit a twin room, which we were completely happy with anyway as we just asked for the beds pushed together! We were greeted by the two lovely hostesses who got our drinks for us to enjoy in their beautiful patio... More

I agree with everything in the previous review. Room 5 was pretty near perfect. Bed enormous and comfortable. The bath can be a problem especially if it becomes slippery with bath oils etc. The second time I used it I did not use anything other than soap and it was easier to get out of. A hand rail may be... Room 5 is very comfortable and spacious a. lovely bathroom and very well maintained. We would suggest that a slip mat is made available as having a shower you could daily slip. The bath is great and for us a treat as we normally only shower but the Tap in centre of bath could be a very good lever to... More

We found this place by accident whilst going up Church Lane to go back to the station. Popped in for lunch as looked so inviting from the cold. Very good food and service was excellent. My husband said they kept very good beer (IPA). Had homemade quiche meal and a pesto covered cod meal. Very, very good and huge portions... More

I organised a surprise dinner and party in the snug and courtyard of Samuel Pepys. The staff and owners were extremely helpful and worked with me brilliantly and helped organise the evening. We had a family meal which was lovely, all meals were of great quality and quantity and we can't wait to return. The ambiance in the bar was... More

I have stayed her twice. Each time for over 2 weeks. Graham and his staff go far and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Friendly and warm for sure. I would highly recommend to anyone.
