Molly's teas room is at the back of this hotel. We were out for a stroll round Saffron Walden and thought we'd have a cuppa and a cake or scone. Big mistake! We wish we'd have gone to Costa. My husband went inside to order while I sat at a very dirty table on the patio area, no-one came to... More

Stayed in deluxe room last night. Room was gorgeous. Ate in the restaurant in the evening. Food really nice, staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Saffron Walden a lovely place to visit, Saturday market good, Fry gallery good and lots of interesting things to see and explore in the town.

The food was lovely, as always. We often go there with friends, and the food is great. A tad expensive but you get what you pay for! The service could be better...VERY slow and took ages for our food to come out and when we wanted to order! Not too impressed service wise but thank you for great food!

Sunday evening, needed a quick meal, The Cross Keys looked good. Not to put too fine a point on it....the table service was lousy! A rare art on the part of a waiter, conveying the impression that you are lucky to be allowed to eat in his establishment! Baked Camembert was quite nice.....but the wait for it.....followed by a so... More

Friendly and professional staff. Clean, quiet and comfortable rooms. Nice restaurant, good food. Lovely surroundings. Price is midrange, easy check in and out. I can only recommend this hotel. Will definitely come back.

Popped in for a light lunch today with friends. Initially very impressed by the hotel and the staff. We were escorted into the Chester Bar. Beautiful room partially oak panelled and full of character. We ordered tea and one of the cups had quite a noticeable chip out of the rim which was promptly replaced. We had orders 2 portions... 2 weeks previously I had the misfortune to stay up the road at the Saffron Walden hotel which was awful and paid £35 more for the pleasure.Stayed at the Cross Keys in a very beautiful room 7 had a wonderful Sunday roast dinner, the rib eye beef and in the morning had a terrific breakfast with great choice served by... I stayed here in June 2016 as I was working close by in Whittlesford. What a charming hotel! This building boasts character & charm, it is 15th century I would say, exposed oak beams are everywhere to be seen. I was met on arrival with a very friendly welcome & shown to my room. The room was clean & very... More

Had lunch on Saturday 18th June 2016, the fabric of the Pub /Hotel is terrific, some parts built over 500 years ago, so lots of heritage. Food was excellent, and the staff very attentive and charming, I went with my wife, daughter and son in law. Only negative point, which was out of the control of the staff was some... More
