Location is convenient for the centre of Lyme, but far enough out to be very quiet. Rooms are comfortable and food is good. The landlord was very friendly and welcoming, and I would have no hesitation recommending it and staying there again myself.

I stopped by on my way through on Thursday night on my way to London thankfully food was being served as I called a time before and it was closed. I had a pleasant evening even tho I was in quite a rush, I had scallops to start followed by hake and new potatoes and it was very well received... More

Apart from the friendly and personable man on the front desk, who also waits table at breakfast, this place has no positives whatsoever. So, with apologies to this agreeable gent, this is the reality of Mariners. Dirty. The stairway is grubby, the bedroom was almost a joke. If I hadn't been exhausted by my journey I would have turned tail... More

Dear Bravide, I can only apologise that your stay did not meet your expectations, or our standards, we would have gladly moved you to another room, had you brought this to our attention during your stay. The carpets in the main hotel rooms are due to be replaced in the next couple of months, along with an extensive refurbishment program,... More

We stayed here whilst attending a friends wedding, didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Pros: Parking, very friendly, clean, good size room, good quality breakfast (really tasty- local sourced produce), peaceful. Cons: Slightly small bathroom in our room (I'm 6ft and i was a bit stuck for height). Maybe a touch expensive for a low season stay.... More

We booked here on a 3 night for 2 deal, and in all honesty booked despite the reviews we read, not because of them. I think some have been a bit unfair, but to deal with a few points. Positives-without exception, fab, attentive staff. A good, generous, varied breakfast. Nice big car park. Lovely hot power shower, great sea view... More

New Head Chef and VERY attentive staff. forget about previous reviews our experience was great! The roast was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were an excellent balance. Puddings delicious. Try The Mariners out while you can still get in.

The hotel's kitchen is directly next to the kitchen so the whole place smells of fried fish. I booked for only a single room, and was given a triple--and paid for the triple. The place is nothing special.

We had a weekend here in November. We chose a sea view room (no. 9) which did indeed have lovely sea views over the garden. We arrived at 6pm to be told there was no food available that night - we had thought we might eat at the restaurant on our first evening. No explanation for the closure was offered.... More

Quite large hotel in fairly convenient spot for Lyme Regis (10m mins from seafront) and with nice views of bay. Whole place needs spicing up a bit and really a 4 star hotel ought to have drinking water in all the rooms. Nice bar, but why no real beer? Breakfast a bit plain, though scrambled egg and smoked salmon a... More

We stayed at the Mariners in July during the regatta week. This hotel is on a very, very steep hill about 10 minutes walk away from shops and restaurants. Not for the faint hearted. Our room was small, overlooking the front and was very, very noisy from the road outside and the seagulls. The beige carpet was stained and grubby and... More
