This is our regular stopping off point on our way to Cornwall. Such a lovely setting on the moor, horseshoe shaped hotel layout looking onto a beautiful lawn. Originally, several years ago we wanted a place to break our journey that would accommodate dogs and so pleased we found

We were only here for a half day meeting but were very impressed with the staff and the catering all the sandwiches and cakes on offer were first class and there was ample tea or coffee available throughout the afternoon everywhere was warm and cosy but what a terrible let down

My work colleague and I were booked in here by work as visiting local NHS services. We arrived after a 7 hour drive and your staff were very welcoming. We had Dinner and a few drinks in the bar and we're looked after by Shaun. He was very friendly, polite and professional,

Dear 202maggiek, Thank you very much for your kind review, it was good to see that we looked after you well, I will make sure that Shaun sees your comments as well as the rest of the team. We do aim to offer a range of dishes to cater for more restaurant as well as slightly less formal plates to allow people the choice in both the bar and the restaurant: the gammon is really nice and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I do appreciate the feedback on the beers we stock, I took the decision a number of years ago to keep just one real ale and to keep it well. The way we can extend this now would be with more craft ales in bottles or cans as the range has improved so much recently. Our grounds are delightful, if you can come back in the summer do have a walk around the meadow too. The exit lane is shared with our neighbours and once we get to better weather we do need to work with them to agree a plan to improve this. Thank you again for your comments, do come and stay with us again and any recommendations to colleagues would be greatly appreciated! Kind regards, Andrew Jenkins, General Manager

My only complaint is that the weather scuppered our cycling plans! Please try harder Moorland Garden Hotel! Beautiful location. Great setting. Breakfast was perfectly cooked. I cheekily customised the full English, no issues - some places you have it as is or go without, not

Dear Tracy C, Thank you very much for your really kind review and good to meet you. I do apologise most sincerely for the weather - we will do our best to fix this for your next stay! I was very pleased to read how good a stay you had with us and that the Breakfast team was more than happy to accommodate your requests for breakfast. The bathrooms are nice and modern aren't they but thank you for the observation on the access to the shower, I will certainly have a look at this. We are looking at ways to improve the exit lane, as you say it is shared with our neighbours so it is not quite as straightforward as it might be. Good tip for people bringing their bikes or coming in higher vehicles - we are happy to store bikes in one of our outbuildings too. I do look forward to seeing you both here again and with some better weather! Kind regards, Andrew Jenkins, General Manager

This was our second stay at this hotel (we enjoyed the first, so booked again). We have stayed both times in the 'forget me not suite' and really like it. Great balcony and suite is decoroated well. Not sure about the ducks that are blue-tac to the wall but the rest of the room

Dear Cyberspace72, Thank you very much for your very kind review, I was very pleased to see how much you enjoyed your stay and that we managed to match your expectations from your previous visit. (I'll certainly check on the ducks!) It was especially good to see that team looked after you well and that Chef and his team kept up the standard. We look forward to your next visit to Plymouth! Kind regards, Andrew Jenkins, General Manager

If you are not a guest at the hotel are you able to just come for a breakfast ? Thank you.
Hi Alison, Yes you are welcome to come in for Breakfast. If more than two of you it would be good to know how many, when and what time so we can be ready. Also best to avoid 9am on a Saturday or Sunday. Thank you Andrew

Good morning, Apologies for the delay coming back to you. We do have a range of mattresses in the hotel and we do our best to make sure the most appropriate room is used when we have a special request like yours. none of the rooms have orthopoedic mattresses but we can add bed boards as necessary. Our recent reviews do have some very positive things to say about the hotel and the food so I am confident you will have a good stay with us. When yo book do please make sure we know about your mattress needs eg firm, soft, extra padding etc. We look forward to seeing you next year Regards Andrew GM
