The countryside location of this hotel is impressive, however, beware satnav directions and follow the route given by the hotel instead if you want to avoid going down a farm track! We had pre-booked a two-night break in the 'Attic', which was good value as...More

I loved everything about this place. It's luxury but in a very relaxed and friendly way. We were a little early so we're shown to the bar area, which was gorgeous. Our room was a 'comfy' one and it was luxurious in every way. The...More

We called in on a miserable wet day in February. The restaurant was fully booked so we sat by the fire with a drink and selection of bread and meats. There were plenty of comfortable settees and a very helpful staff

They accommodated our last minute booking. We were delighted to discover there were lots of opportunities to find fires and sofa all over the characterful house. We were content to sip our gins in front of one, and despite the delay staff were apologetic offering...More

Lovely location and setting, rustic charm to the decor. Food was good, massive selection of wines, staff a little informal, main dining area very busy and noisy (high ceilings?!)we felt a little cramped and could not converse over dinner. The lighting needs adjustment as flickers??

Such a shame how much this place has changed under new ownership. We first visited when it was Coombe House and were overwhelmed by the friendly staff, food, ambience (huge Christmas tree, log fire, resident cat), everything! We raved about it so much that our friends joined us for a meal there some months later. The lovely gentleman greeting us seemingly remembered us from our previous visit and made us all feel so welcome. The food, as we had told our friends, was fantastic and they were blown away by the whole evening - as they are 'foodies' we were so pleased they enjoyed it as much as us. We returned recently and weren't impressed. I think the change of the name to 'The Pig' resonates the standard to now expect. Alan Titchmarsh was dining there when we visited. I wonder if he still does?
