Not the easiest place to find owing to the road network which the authorities seem to have made as difficult as possible. You need to park in the pay and display car park, not the one on the other side of the hotel. The hotel is pretty old and in a shabby state although the owners seem to be making... More

We had a fantastic stay here at the Bell Inn. A lovely Old Pub with lots of history that we love. The staff were so friendly and always so helpful and hard working to please. The family room was big and spacious, we had great night sleeps. The food was delicious and always had service with a smile. (A big... More

Has a degree of automatic prestige for its association with 'Dad's Army' (though evidence of the connection is quite sparse) but will most certainly need to look to its laurels when the new leisure complex (including a 62-room hotel) is up and running next door. The staff were pleasant but my room was inferior to half-decent b & b accommodation;... More

First impression was poor, outside seatin area was unuseable due to the bird droppings, every flat surface in the bar area was sticky, poor decor throughout the hotel 25 minute wait for breakfast BUT the 35 minute wait for a pot of tea is not good enough The staff were constantly apologising for the problems, even this becomes tedious over... Dirty room difficult access very run down need a big face lift. Lots of cobwebs hanging from ceiling and round skirting board's found a pair of old socks in bottom of wardrobe very dusty. Breakfast was chaotic people waiting for clean glasses for juice when they did arrive they were hot. Food was ok as was the bed linen but... More

The hotel its self was a little tired in places ie; the dining room and our bathroom needed a little TLC but the bed was comfortable. The bar was a little dull so we went into the market square and enjoyed a nice meal at Witherspoons.

We were visiting the nearby Dad's Army museum so chose this hotel as part of the trip, as it is where the cast used to stay when the programme was being filmed, between 1968 and 1977. Our room was spacious and well equipped, with a lovely leather sofa and armchairs, and a four-poster bed. The staff were very friendly and... More

Very discontent with management by staff was noticed. 8 items of complaint with room and disappointed with the standards set by management , a general aura of parking information reported to reception within the first day of our stay, fortunately the new area manager (James) was in the hotel and asked to talk to us about my list of complaints... We generally judge a hotel by the welcome at reception and the welcome we received here was second to none. Check in was efficient and friendly. When we got to the room, we were surprised at the space and the size of the bed. The welcome pack, tea coffee etc, was possibly the best of all hotels we have stayed... More

We are a local Norfolk family and know the area well. We ate in the Bar last night although there is also a comfortable lounge (dog friendly) and a restaurant. Great value, polite and welcoming service as always and the steaks were served and cooked excellently. Well done The Bell, great offer!
