We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough! From the moment you pull on the drive, the cleanliness warmth and welcome to you receive is excellent. The staff are all first rate and friendly, the service is impeccable and food delicious. We stayed in the two cottages and also had a room in the main house. All rooms were clean and very comfortable and decorated to high standard. Everything is thought about – complimentary slippers, do use of wellingtons and umbrellas if need be, lovely tea and coffee, and nothing is too much trouble. For what you get here this is excellent value for money and we will certainly be visiting again.

Just attended my son’s wedding at the Mead. Everything was faultless. The staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was piping hot and delicious. We had a fantastic overnight stay in Crab Apple Summer House Suite. A private breakfast followed for our party, which again was delicious. We have had so many compliments about the venue from friends and family. I would definitely recommend.

We stayed at the Mead and were very impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, our room and the wonderful food served in their excellent intimate restaurant. Compliments to the chef! The breakfast was also first rate and my wife also enjoyed a treatment which she said was wonderful. Location is quiet yet walking distance to some great walks, pubs, cafes and even a bit of paddle boarding (if that's your thing). We'd thoroughly recommend - I am sure we will visit again. (And if you are having a wedding it looks like a great venue too!) Plus the 'posh' afternoon teas looks delicious!

Visited here as a belated 60th birthday meal for my mother as we wanted somewhere special. Having been to this restaurant before, we had high expectations, which were more than met. The evening was flawless from start to finish. The venue itself is really well laid out with classy but homely decor. The staff especially made it extra special, they were all really friendly , witty and down to earth not pretentious like some high class restaurants can be. The food was cooked to perfection , it was very well presented and the flavours used were spot on. We sat enjoying the ambiance of the lounge for an after dinner drink, which was a lovely touch. All in all best meal in a long time and can't rate this venue highly enough. I hope the staff read this to know what a wonderful job they are all doing.

We’ve recently enjoyed another fantastic stay at Norfolk Mead, this time in one of their incredible cottages. The accommodation was amazing - luxurious, yet very homely - absolutely lovely. The perfect place for a family to stay, offering plenty of space and flexibility with the bunk beds causing lots of excitement! A wonderful way to enjoy the benefits of a high-end hotel with the feel of a private home. The team are fantastic, very welcoming and made the children feel super-special. The icing on the cake was the location and the amazing boat available to hire! Thank you Norfolk Mead.

Wow. Really don’t know what I can say except wow. We stayed for my birthday in Mulberry. The room was incredible and both breakfast and dinner were exceptional, but the biggest bonus about the hotel by far is the team who work there. Knowledgeable, fun, professional, kind and human. Truly outstanding. Thank you!

I spent 2 nights here for a wedding and stayed in Sweet Chestnut and Beech Nut. The staff were friendly and helpful, including the 3 members of the spa team I dealt with for a treatment and nails. The wedding venue and food were faultless. However there were a few aspects which I was disappointed with. Some outside areas were covered in cobwebs and needed maintenance, and some parts of the accommodation were not as clean as I would expect (cobwebs on ceilings, mildew around bath and shower). The body wash in the bathroom had run out so we ended up using my shampoo to wash with. The bottom sheet on the bed was unironed. In Beechnut we needed to use the sofa bed but there was no bedlinen - we asked at reception and were told there would be some on the sofa in the other room. When we got back at midnight we found no linen and by this time reception was closed so we had to take some from the spare bunk bed in the cottage someone else in our party was staying in. We had very high expectations given all we had heard about the Norfolk Mead, and we would return for an event or for food, but not to stay. Having paid £220 a night I would not expect to find anything amiss. It could be excellent if there was a little more attention to detail.

Well where do I start….. it’s rare to see a hotel with perfection all over such as this, particularly in such a rural part of beautiful Norfolk! Location…. Lovely grounds and a nice riverside walk at the front of the building. At the rear, the walled garden is ideal for drinks and a spot of lunch…. Well set-up for weddings too. The gardeners were busy working away tending to the wonderful range of bedding plants in a difficult summer for flowers. Room: we had Crab Apple, a recently renovated suite separate to the main hotel. Massive inside, huge bed comfy sofa with the added bonus of a patio area. Furnished to a very high standard with beautiful toiletries. Food: Wow, awesome…. Dinner was from a daily menu which was a delight to read. Sometimes menus like this then fail to deliver on the plate but no issues here, some wonderful flavour combinations and great use of local products. The pre-dinner cheese straws were possibly the finest I’d ever tasted! Breakfast, nice buffet selection and great hot choices, promptly delivered. Staff: a hotel lives by its staff and this is the jackpot for this hotel…. Without exception, awesome! In the Front of House areas the same bunch floated seamlessly from one role to another. Professional in the way they operated yet not in a stuffy manner and the rapport they had with one another was great to see…. They prove working in hospitality can be fun. Liam and Josh (I think it’s his name, taking part in a charity golf day) were the ones we had most dealings with, thanks so much lads. We had a great time and laughed lots too. All in all, highly recommended….. go and see for yourself.
