We had a fantastic stay at the Norfolk mead in the samphire room. The room was very clean had all the amenities we needed and the food was great! Staff were very friendly and catered to all our needs thank you! Would recommend this to anyone looking for a hotel around the Norwich area and have already looked to book our next stay there.

This is our second trip for an overnight stay at the Norfolk Mead, but our first stay in a suite (Beachnut), the standard rooms were not available, and we fancied an upgrade to a suite and felt the cost would be special. but we were disappointed. it was a nice spacious bedroom and bathroom, and the lounge was more like a lobby, but the suite was really cold, it was surprising it was a cabin in the garden, but the heating was off, and took a good few hours to get comfortable, we rang to ask what we could do and they said they would come to a sort out a solution, but no one arrived. This did spoil our trip and when we checked out we were asked if we enjoyed our stay, I explained the issues and the member of staff explained it was February and agreed it was probably not well enough insulated for winter use. We have a lot of experience with owning a cabin in Norfolk, so we are not unreasonable as to what to expect, but this was sold as a luxurious hotel, the best example of a lodge in Norfolk would be Stiltz and is billed as a Rural Retreat by Airbnb, but certainly cheaper, clearly highly insulated, but has a Woodburner which gets really hot and maybe a suggestion for the Norfolk mead, plus full kitchen your hot tub and amazing views, so no surprises where we will go next time, availability permitting.

My son and I had such a lovely time on Friday afternoon when we came here for afternoon tea. Really lovely food, great service and fab to finish off by relaxing in front of the fire. I had made a mistake with my voucher beforehand and the staff could not have been more helpful. All in all 10 out of 10.

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay. Chanterelle is a beautiful room made even more special with the balcony overlooking the lawn down to the river. We added late checkout to give us extra time to sit and take in the wonderful surroundings. The sound of the birds on the water were just so calming. The food is out of this world. Compliments to the chef! All staff are exceptional and made us feel very welcome! We will visit again for sure!

Really impressed by the Norfolk Mead. My wife and I stayed on a Friday evening in February including an amazing evening meal. The hotel is beautiful, in a wonderful setting by the River Bure, that even on a dreary February day made us smile, with mature trees and a view down to the river. The staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival. We loved our room The Elderberry. Two full height windows with views of trees. A comfortable bed and modern bathroom, with a fantastic shower. We spent time reading on the comfortable chairs by the windows feeling very relaxed drinking the complimentary coffee and eating brownies also provided. The evening meal was exceptional, one of the best we have ever had. With attentive and friendly staff we never felt rushed and really enjoyed the food, wine and atmosphere of the lovely dining room. The room was warm and we slept well. Breakfast was really good. I had the full English and took advantage of the nice bread, yoghurt and fruit from the buffet. My wife had the eggs Benedict which was amazing. We can’t wait to come back again.

I just don't get it ! The room was not deluxe , surface mounted wires , plug in heaters , broken lampshade. Decor ... painted over old wallpaper that was coming away . No fancy chandeliers just pendant light with cheap shade bog standard mirrors cheap standard furniture , tired and worn carpet, cobwebs in the room . Restaurant (one small room ) was an uninspiring room no character or style , odd choice of decor and pictures . Maybe I expect too much but was glad to be home . Staff were exceptional as was breakfast , evening meal needed improvement . Visited some years ago and thought would give another go under new management . No real investment has been made in the rooms just a patch over and new mattresses . Very disappointed and expensive experience . All felt a bit grubby and unloved

We had a lovely stay here in February, other than a couple of small issues everything was fantastic. The room was lovely, though opposite the laundry room & it was a little off putting to come back to our room on a couple of occasions to a corridor full of sheets/ washing hanging on clothes horse. There is currently building work taking place on a spa building which spoils the appearance on arrival if you weren’t expecting it & we were worried the noise would impact our stay, but it did not at all. It will be great to see the finished product once completed. Only other very small issue was on last morning a peaceful breakfast was interrupted by hoovering the adjoining halls/rooms. They could have just waited until 9.30 when breakfast ends/shut the door as it was quite noisy. The hot breakfasts were delicious and an excellent selection of cold items were also available. Overall it was a lovely break, the rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We would definitely return if in the area.

Once again the Mead didn't fail to disappoint...! My wife and I booked the Valentines couples special evening dinner, and what a delightful meal it was. We both had the pigeon wellington as staters. The pigeon breast was perfectly cooked in the wellington, just the right side of medium rare. As my wife is not a fish lover, we again shared the main of Cote du Boeuf with the Mac and cheese and skin on chips. The beef was cooked to perfection, and chips...!!! As a desert, we again had the same choice of Paris de Breast. I'll be honest, this wasn't exactly what we were expecting, as the chief had put his own take on this classic dessert. This is not to say it wasn't very good. Just not exactly what we were expecting. Once again the entire service staff were Wonderfull. From the greeting when we arrived, to the farewell when we were leaving. They were even so good as to bring me a small piece of Norfolk cheese after desert as the sweetness of de Breast did not go with the wine we had for our meal. Many thanks to all the staff for making it such a wonderful evening...!

Absolutely fabulous stay. The staff make this place, they work seamlessly together as a team, which is rare to see these days. Wonderful experience, food was out of this world! Room was spotlessly clean…. The bath tub, although aesthetically pleasing to the eye, want practical got in and slipped down and nearly shot out the other end much to my sons amusement watching me flap about in the bath like a turtle stuck on its back 😂😂😂😂 we shall defo be back!

From the moment you step inside you know you have made the right choice. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. The room (Samphire) was spacious, beautiful and very comfortable. Small details like fresh milk for tea in your room and delicious brownies are a really nice touch. The food is exceptional. Sitting by the log fire in the lounge, was a perfect end to the day. I can't wait to return.
