Lovely rooms, whole place sensitively refurbished and a great atmosphere there. It was clean, warm and full of character, as a country inn should be. Staff attentive and friendly. Owners are experienced in hospitality - and it showed.

We arrived after a long drive to find the hotel had been closed down a few weeks earlier, leaving us stranded with no accommodation for the night. Booking.com (who we booked through) had not let us know nor had the Kings Arms even though we had booked a couple of months previously.

Lovely part of England. This hotel could have it all if accommodation was upgraded. Restaurant is superb. Our family of five had dinner in the evening. It was a pleasure to have good home cooked food. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Stayed here for the weekend (8th & 9th July) and received a warm welcome from the staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We met with friends here and had an evening meal, which all agreed was not only good quality but also very good value for money. The breakfast was also very good. Would recommend. We were also entertained during dinner... More

Had a lovely meal here with my friend on Friday night. We've been a few times before and always get a warm and friendly welcome from the landlord and staff and the locals with good atmosphere and banter. We had the fish n chips and the King Burger to eat, both of which were well cooked, really tasty and very... More

We arrived after a long motorcycle journey to a warm reception by all the staff. We had private parking for the bikes and check in was quick and easy. Great beers at the bar and the restaurant food was excellent for dinner and breakfast. En suite rooms would have been better but the bathroom was close to the room.

Very pleased with the service and food served. Delicious food very attentive staff. We would have liked though to sit where we wanted but as they were short staffed we were all put up into one end of the room. It turned out ok as the other table of 12 turned out to be good craic.

Sorry to say this ancient hotel needs some serious work done to its facilities. The staff, young, helpful, but just a touch formulaic and off hand, should not be put in the position of defending the indefensible by the owners (wherever they were). For example there was no drying room and the policy of "take your muddy boots off" therefore... More

Hi, thank you for leaving a review. All our staff try their hardest to make everyone's stay the same. We do not advertise we have a drying room as we are a hotel but if anyone at all needs things washing then they are more than welcome to wash and dry their belongings in our staff area free of charge.... We were travelling back down to London from Oban in Scotland and decided to take a side trip from the Motorway and found ourselves in this delightful little market town called Kirkby Stephen. After a look around we decided it would be a nice place to relax and spent the night, so popped in to this lovely pub. We were... More

Great place to stay. Rooms are sufficient although public shower is tricky. Fun pub house. Good beer selection and food. Staff is friendly and hotel is in the middle of town. I had a good size single room with a couch.
