We stayed at Kirkby Stephen hostel for a weekend in February 2017 as a group of 38 people. The hostel had with everything we needed with a well equipped kitchen and a large living/social area which was large enough for our whole group. The owner Denise is also very helpful, making sure we were knew everything we needed to before...

I stayed here for one night during my Coast to Coast walk. I've been 'living' in hostels full time for 6 years, I'm used to looking after myself and was happy to here as the Hostel had everything I needed. Denise the hostel manger was a great help and really friendly.

Simple but well located travelers accommodation. Located between the Dales, the Lakes and the Pennines I have passed this way a few times. Finding a place for the night that has a good location ie. a shop that opens until late and a couple of pubs together with somewhere to get a shower and a bunk for the night is...

The hostel is very nicely placed. Unfortunately it is very tired and somewhat grubby. There were remnants of the old YHA ownership still evident. But the whole place was just run down and in need of a clear out of old furnishings and torn mattresses and grubby worn bedding. It was also quite cold . I have stayed in hostels...

The Balcony has been decorated and I am pleased with the result. Two rooms have had new carpets.Yippee, two new windows...

After a nightmare of a day travelling from Cardiff to Scotland to pick up a new bike, which turned out to break down outside the kirkby stephen, this converted church was definitely my sanctuary for the night. Iwas a real pain to Denise, I mean a real pain... Kept on ringing her in the day and night as I didn't...

I stayed at Kirkby Stephen hostel after a long day of walking. I was welcomed very warmly by the owner, Denise, who made sure I was comfortable in every possible way. The hostel is a magnificent building, the common area is really something special with the stained glass windows. There is plenty of seating and really well-equipped self-catering facilities. The...

I don't think I've ever received as warm a welcome as i did upon arriving here. A beautiful hostel in a converted church building, it is a shining example of what an independent hostel can be. Practical, comfortable and affordable. All the facilities that a passing walker or cyclist will need are available, and the main focus of the building...

Stayed here with a group of friends whilst visiting Kirkby Stephen. It's a gorgeous building, there's a little snug upstairs in the communal hall that's perfect for sitting and chatting. The rooms are a little dated, but definitely served their purpose. The lady running the hostel is friendly and helpful, we had everything we needed. There is a Co-op across...

We were a group of 7 with ages from 9 to 61and we all had a great time. Everything you need is provided, from a well kitted out kitchen, great communal area with stuff for the kids and adults alike, and a great family bedroom and bathroom. Denise was really helpful and friendly ensuring our stay was enjoyable. Highly recommended.
