If you are looking for five star comforts then don't come here. But if you're after a warm, friendly environment then don't hesitate and book a room. This converted chapel is full of character - the spacious lounge is a great place to relax and plan your day, and the kitchen has all you need to cook a meal or... More

For £20 a night this place is fine. We had a room which shared the shower and toilet with next door. Plenty of hot water, clean and comfy bunks. The Coop shop just over the road is great if you want to eat in but the lack of a microwave limited some of the choice. Please get a couple of... More

The Hostel had everything we needed at the end of a gruelling but brilliant 42 hour, 174 mile mountain bike ride up the Pennine Bridleway from Middleton Top in Derbyshire to the finish just outside Kirkby Stephen. The owner (Denise) could not have been more helpful and accommodating especially as we arrived at midnight! There was a place to store... More

My partner & I stayed at the hostel for one night while walking the Coast to Coast and sadly it has been the worst accommodation we have stayed in. We have both used YHA hostels on the route and on other occasions, but this hostel does not compare. The room was very mishap, beds looked grubby, linen was not ironed... More

We stayed here at the end of a long day from Bampton on the coast to coast walk, and were given an option of rooms which was nice. Facilities were basic but the bed was comfy and warm which is the most important thing. It was a shame our blind was broken and there wasn't any soap which detracted from... More

We were doing the coast to coast and we had to stop walking because of a foot infection i got there. The host call the doctor on the... More

As a group of cyclists doing the Walney to Whitby coast to coast cycle the hostel was perfect for our overnight stay on the route. The owner Denise was a great host, she gave us a warm welcome and was very knowledgable about walking and cycling in the area. There is a co-op across the road for food supplies, a... More

It is a Methodist chapel that was converted in 1988 and still has much of the furniture. The owner was very flexible and friendly. Her charming and well-behaved granddaughter had breakfast with us. We had a takeaway from the local Bangladeshi restaurant. We had enjoyed the English cooking in places up to then but it was nice to have a... More

12 of us stayed here for a cycling weekend and really enjoyed it. The hostel is not especially luxurious but there is a secure bike shed, an effective drying room (essential after a very wet day on the hills!), lovely hot showers and the rooms were well heated. Its main attraction, though, is the warden who seems genuinely interested in... More

Great to meet you very fit girls, ticking off some very steep cycle climbs from the hostel. I hope you had a good day on Sunday up Dunn Fell. I hope to see you again. More
