We had a wonderful stay at Fletcher House while walking the Coast-to-Coast. The rooms are very large and wonderfully furnished; there is a lovely guest TV lounge and tea and cakes on arrival. The location is perfect for the town centre, breakfast was a delight and overall it was a haven of comfort and tranquility.

Stayed here for one night prior to travelling to St Bees to start the Coast to Coast walk. Nice big well appointed room. Landlady very helpful. It sent a high standard which wasn't always met elsewhere during the walk.

A beautiful classic guest house . Our hosts were warm and inviting , our room was so comfortable , and spacious , with plenty of hot water in the shower . A separate guest bathroom was a real luxury : wonderful to soak after walking from Orton . Our hosts provided a generous breakfast , and packed lunch for the... More

We stayed here overnight whilst doing the Lady Anne's Way. We arrived wet and bedraggled after a day of almost continual rain and drizzle. We received a warm welcome, and our wet gear was swiftly taken away to the drying room, and it was a joy the next morning to find it all laid out for us, dry and comfortable... More

Great location, large bedroom , but when we arrived the downstairs area smelt of cigarette smoke (not in our room), this had been freshened up by the morning but not what I expected. Otherwise a great place to stay .

Thank you for your review, I am very sorry you experienced the smell of smoke we don't allow smoking in any part of the house but do let people smoke in the garden. In future I will request that people don't smoke on the doorstep and to move right away from the door. Many thanks for bringing it to my... More

I can't praise Fletcher House enough. And even if you are not a walker or cyclist, do not be put off by the possible emphasis on catering for coast to coasters - the rooms are delightful whatever you are there for. However, every possible support is given to people who arrive cold and wet - drying facilities, bathroom for the... More

This is a good, attractive B&B. A nice old house in the centre of Kirkby Stephen; large rooms: and thick walls, so quiet at night. The hosts are very pleasant and go to great efforts to be welcoming - hot drinks available all the time, and cake in the evening. Breakfast was also very nice. This isn't a 5 star... More

This is a difficult b&b to review. It is a lovely old house with outstanding features and tasteful furniture which is a little old fashioned for my taste but completely functional and spacious. The rooms are big with all the facilities you would expect but my twin beds were a little small and well worn. I had the full English... More

After 5 hard days to walk into this B&B is heaven. Absolutely fantastic hosts. Cake waiting for us! Spacious rooms with all the amenities. They have a bath tub which anyone doing the walk will know is nirvana. Well done Gillian and Steve. You really know how to look after your guests. Very highly recommended!
