We had 6 rooms in the outside "stable block" adjoining the hotel which worked well for our group here to celebrate a special birthday as we were close to each other and able to go in and out of our rooms for pre - dinner drinks........lots of celebrating going on! Rooms were perfectly adequate and beds comfy. Staff were friendly,... More

We stayed 2 nights as we were visiting RIAT Fairford and relations in the area. All we wanted was a comfortable room, that was not in need of a complete refurbishment. WIFI in the room was non existent and even in the main Hotel. We did not pay a huge sum for our two nights, but we felt we did... More

We stayed at The Bear for 5 nights in june (23 till 28th). It was our first time at the Bear and it hasn't a special room for disabled persons. Normally we choose a hotel with such a room cause I frequently needs a wheelchair. But the room we got was just good enough to use the wheelchair. The staff... More

Hungerford had an under supply of hotel rooms which allows the Bear to charge exorbitant rates for a poor quality product. "Heritage listed" is not a coverall excuse for grubby, stained carpets, dirty walls and a grotty bathroom. The external staircase to our first floor room (no lift) at least carried a warning sign about the dangers of slipping. It... More

A warm welcome from Caroline, shown to a room which must have originally been a hayloft above the stables. Swallows nest above the door, they flew the next morning. Heaven. It is tired in places but it is an old building and the atmosphere was good. One had Continental Brekkie but the full month looked excellent.

Stayed for 2 nights in June. This hotel is part of the Old English Inns chain and like most of its hotels was an old building so do not expect the decor and facilities of a modern hotel. We were in the Courtyard building and our room had beamed ceiling and was clean and comfortable. Wifi connection was not a... More

Centrally located hotel in Hungerford with free parking and easy access. Stayed one night in a superior room on June the 17th 2016, which was well appointed and the room size and bed were superb with the usual facilities. Didn't have supper in the hotel as visiting family but the breakfast was excellent and included in the price. The staff... More

This hotel should be lovely. The location is great and it's a beautiful building but somehow its not. The room is nice enough but needs updating. The breakfast was terrible with possibly the rubberiest eggs I've ever eaten and invisible waitresses. The whole experience is just a let down with so little care going the residents experience.

We stayed at The Bear for three nights last week. We have stayed there on previous occasions and been quite satisfied but not this time. We had a room on Bear Island which had a lovely large balcony but we couldn't sit out there on arrival as it looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for weeks. There were tree... More

This Hotel is very disappointing. We stayed one night and that was enough. It advertising free Wi Fi but after asking various members of staff we still couldn't get it to work. Our bedroom was very small and it didn't help with a huge bed in it, so as a result there was very little space to move around the... More
