Lovely rooms and terrace space clean and cosy, nice personnel, always willing to help.

Top location in city centre, perfect for short city stays.
The only thing that bothered me was, that the room hairdryer wasn't working and that the mini bar in the room was empty.
Otherwise great stay,

Stayed for 2 nights at the hotel. Really nice spacious room with a Writer theme which is a lovely touch. I arrived quite late from Zagreb so no dinner was offered but I had some toasted sandwiches with ham and cheese...hmmm lovely. Comfortable clean room and nice shower and bed. The only thing that let it down was breakfast......
Very sparse variety with a couple of sausages on the hotplate and some potatoes. Quite disappointing especially as I had only toasted sandwiches the night before. Some cereals but the milk was not cold warm which I was reluctant to try !

Not bad but could have been 5 stars if it's hadnt been for the poor breakfast.

Hotel Mitra is an amazing if not even magic place! Each room has a Story to it with original paintings of a famous Artist from Ptuj. The rooms are very spacious and some of them definitely have 4-star level. The staff with Antonetta, Nina and Matias is extremely helpful and cares for everybody. The owners Martina and Pter Vesenjak have a deep knowledge of the local history back to Roman times and it is fun to listen to all the stories that happened and why the Hotel is called "Mitra".
A place that is ideal for Business and leisure. I have stayed there many times in the past 4 years because of work and I recommend it. It is definitely worth a detour!

A mixed review. The breakfast was very poor. You must pay extra for proper coffee. We were there at the same time as a party of fifty from Austria who had cleared the breakfast table and drank all of the coffee by 730am on two consecutive days. Luckily the lovely Sasha stepped in and sorted out our expresso’s from the bar and set up a table for us with no extra charge. The next day when another member of staff was on duty and the same thing happened with another group we were were charged for the coffee and she was not very pleasant. Sometimes service is lacking in Slovenia and the welcome is not so good. The standard of cleanliness was not too good with glasses left unwashed in our room and lots of small flies on the fruit at breakfast. Overall a useful place to stay for a night or two.

Renovated old building. Poor breakfast. Rooms on 3rd floor are hot, even with A/C. We moved to lower room. Parking is an issue, but you can find it within 5-10 min. walk. Hotel is right in old center and at the foot of the castle. .

Due to my arthrosis I requested specifically a room with a tub. The reservation was accepted but at arrival the only room with bath was occupied. Staff is friendly but double check in case of special wishes. Location is very good. During weekdays you have to pay nominal amounts for parking. Rooms are spacious, beds are good. At the third floor tou will wake up early from the sun through the windows in the roof. Water in the wc is scarce in the morning (showering 1st priority?) and we had to hold the shower since the holder was defunct. Bit of a mixed bag this and for me not a oositive experience.

Had great expectations when I booked this hotel. No disappointment. Already upon arrival could feel the warmth of the staff. The owner himself took the key of my car to park it for me. The ambience is fantastic, the room is cozy (only issue is that in my room I could hear the neighbors talking and the TV). The bar provides a good service and the breakfast is good. Did not try the wellness center. That will come next time. Sure will stay there again. Nice winery region.

We received wonderful service. The front desk helped us find the pumpkin oil producer we were looking for and they found us a delightful restaurant for dinner.

The room was comfortable and had a wonderful old world charm.

I stayed here on business recently and as an experience business person travelling throughout Europe I am very immune to the charms of hotels but this is hotel is number 1 of all the many places I stayed. The service was outstanding - nothing was too much for any of the staff who spoke English and as mentioned by previous posters the owner Peter went out of his way to facilitate all requests and anticipated all our requirements. The hotel has undergone a makeover in the last year or so and has some wonderful facilities including the wine cellar, the wellness centre and a lovely lobby area. The rooms were spacious and outstandingly clean. This is one city and hotel that I can not wait to return to but this time on holiday with my family.

The Mitra was difficult to find and once there we realized you are on your own to find a parking spot. Fortunately we found one a block and a half away. Rolling our suitcases down the cobblestone streets and sidewalks was a treat but we weren't alone. The Mitra is a solid, yet unremarkable hotel in an otherwise dreary city. Our room was spacious, decor and bath up to date, and the A/C (much needed during a heat wave) worked reasonably well. Unfortunately, one of the many dogs seen in the hotel barked for 2 hours straight in the room right next to ours after 10 at night while the front desk tried to locate its missing owner. Breakfast was traditional, nothing special. I must say the front desk staff was very helpful and polite during check in, giving directions and during the dog fiasco. There is no restaurant in the hotel and one recommended by the front desk was disappointing. The hotel was crowded and it probably is one of the best in town. If on business I'd stay here again. But if passing through while travelling I'd skip Ptuj and go straight on to Ljubljana, Zagreb or Graz if gong north.
