Lovely rooms and terrace space clean and cosy, nice personnel, always willing to help. Top location in city centre, perfect for short city stays. The only thing that bothered me was, that the room hairdryer wasn't working and that the mini bar in the room was empty. Otherwise great stay,
Stayed at this hotel with a friend on Nov 9 for the new wine festival (Martinovanje) in the town. The hotel has excellent 4 star standard rooms, and its location is the best as it is really downtown close to the main square. They happened to run an excellent wine tasting evening which the owner ran. He was very knowledgeable and gave us the idea to discover more wines in the Jeruzalem town 30km north of Ptuj on the following day. The 5 wines served in the tasting were excellent and it was served with a selection of cheese while a choir of 5 men sang a choice of different songs, all of that for only 10euros per person. Facility also has a great sauna/jacuzzi for a bit more expensive 16 euros per person for 2h30 min. What made our stay memorable was the tasting and the really good service. The hotel boast a coffee roastery dating back to 200 years, but even though I am a coffee person, I did avoid their coffee as it was not to my liking.…
We stayed two nights. The Mitra has old world charm and modern amenities in the rooms. Lovely handmade wool carpets/rugs in halls and bedrooms. Nice decor all over the hotel. Our Junior Suite was spacious, other than the shower enclosure, which was very small. The room had safety deposit box and a small fridge. It had sound proof windows. It was not as cool as we wanted in the room and Anja, in reception, kindly provided us a standing fan. Several English channels on tv. Adequate breakfast and limited complimentary parking. Reserve beforehand. Good, central location to sights and restaurants. ,
A mixed review. The breakfast was very poor. You must pay extra for proper coffee. We were there at the same time as a party of fifty from Austria who had cleared the breakfast table and drank all of the coffee by 730am on two consecutive days. Luckily the lovely Sasha stepped in and sorted out our expresso’s from the bar and set up a table for us with no extra charge. The next day when another member of staff was on duty and the same thing happened with another group we were were charged for the coffee and she was not very pleasant. Sometimes service is lacking in Slovenia and the welcome is not so good. The standard of cleanliness was not too good with glasses left unwashed in our room and lots of small flies on the fruit at breakfast. Overall a useful place to stay for a night or two.…
The hotel is faded and past its best. The awning outside the hotel was covered in bird poo and the red carpet at the front door was faded and dirty, get rid of it or replace it. The hotel is living in then past, the piped music was irritating and the breakfast provided was poor. The room was large and clean enough but with so much space why were there no comfortable chairs provided? Dining room chairs are not comfortable. The three reserved parking spaces outside the hotel were all taken by non residents, there was nothing to stop them diong so, and the other hotel parking is in a public car park on the outskirts of town 15-20 minutes walk away.
Hotel is right in the start of old part of city next to amazing church. We came just when there was small music festival so in the evening right next to our hotel we had small stage with live music groups. It was amazing and we enjoyed a lot. Next to hotel you can find a lot of cafes, wine shops and bars with great wine which give very good atmosphere to whole square. Hotel has a historic rooms with great bathroom, nicely decorated rooms and each room has a different picture. My wife chosen room with cock so i pre-order and was very warmly surprised but quick and positive answer from hotel staff. Breaky was fine and not so much choice but still the whole atmosphere, staff very friendly, helpful gave us great short holiday time and give us new energy. Hotel has only 3 parking spots 40 metres from hotel ,where you have to park and get a card from hotel into the car so nobody will charge you. They do also have another places not far (7 minutes walk) under the castle. So no need to worry about parking.…
Nice folk, great location, good value. BUT, internet which cuts out many times during use, poor breakfast (generally poor quality ingredients, no freshly squeezed juices, no good quality cheese, some canned fruit (why?) & really depressing breakfast room). My mattress was uncomfortable, probably from overuse.
We were expecting a good hotel for our 3 days in Ptuj based on the reviews but it exceeded our expectations. The reception was friendly and the owner, who speaks excellent English, went out of his way to show us where to park our car then gave us a brief rundown of what to expect in the city. The little cafe which is part of the establishment serves very good coffee and the breakfast is plentiful. The location is perfect, with the castle a short walk uphill behind the hotel. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will stay here again.
I have stayed in the hotel Mitra just few days ago. We booked two rooms. The staff speaks fluent English and they are very friendly. The location is perfect. Right in the centre of Ptuj, the castle is just above. There is a small coffee shop within the hotel. One of the best coffees in Slovenia! The rooms were very very clean. If we come back I will not hesitate and book the same hotel. Thank you for your hospitality hotel Mitra! We had a fabulous stay❤️
Mitra is a wonderful hotel. Located in the heart of the old town close to the castle and the excellent Amadeus restuarant. The hotel is beautifully decorated with links with the roman history of the town. The staff are very hospitable and welcoming, and they couldn't do enough to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we wanted. Peter, the owner, goes out of his way to make contact with his guests and he has a team of staff (thankyou to the wonderful Alja, Tamara and others whose names we're not sure of )who follow his example so well. Breakfasts are wonderful..we were particularly pleased with the quality of the bread. For us Mitra was a faultless experience. Julian and Jayne from St Davids, Wales' smallest city.
