Horrible experience from the get-go! We reached and had booked a room with views to the fjord. The room is dated beyond belief! Like I mentioned earlier, we had booked a room with a view, and when we looked out, bushes blocked the whole view! I went back to the reception and was old this all they have and she can’t help us. She just works there and it’s out of her hands. Did not seem interested that I had booked a room type which they could not honor. I went back to the room and decided to find an alternative hotel which I did in a matter of minutes. I went back to reception and told them I would like to checkout since they could not honor my reservation. I was told that it would be fine but she cannot refund us today and she will call management to find out how they could process. A few minutes later, I was told they could refund us, but it would only happen on the following day. This sounded a bit shady to say the least. When I reluctantly agreed to check out, she magically offered us another room with a view. The room had somewhat of a better view only half covered by a bushes! I informed them that I would take the room but would be checking out the day after instead of staying for two nights. She then repeated, it's up to you, but I can refund you tomorrow and not today. The next morning, another lady was at the reception who was much more polite. I was informed that they don’t have enough cash to refund me and credit card refund would take a long time. She guided me to her “manager” at a nearby hotel. The staff at the other hotel were very polite and I informed the manager who seemed shocked. They promptly refunded me and apologized for the experience. Although the staff on the second day and manager were polite, the room and staff at check in ruined the whole experience. Would not recommend at all!…
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights - it’s really dated and the breakfast buffet was pretty shocking. The gent behind reception was very nice and the evening meals were ok. It was supposed to be a base for doing Loen active which was why we stayed 3 nights. In reality 1 night was sufficient, as there is nothing else in Loen ( not even a coffee shop let alone restaurants etc ) and would def suggest driving on to Stryn which had much more life. The hotel tv and all of the marketing claims you can use the Alexandra’s spa and restaurants and gym - in reality you cannot. We went to Alexandra and tbh it was really not great either, looks tired too and staff were super unfriendly bordering rude. Go to Stryn instead !
Don’t get fooled by the pictures! The interior is old. The amenities and facilities are so so so basic. Pillows are horrible. Carpet in the bedroom looks dirty and old. Whatever price you pay, if you know a good standards and want a comfortable stay, then this hotel is not what you looking for.
This hotel is recomended. You was warmly welommed by a fantastic lady in the reception. It was nicely located by the river and a fantastic nature around. The service was exellent and they have great menu in the restaurant Room was clean and have and own balcony. The service from the staff was superb.
I stayed here a night on a package tour and this is the worst experience. It’s okay that the hotel is old but it’s not acceptable if it’s not maintained. We have got dirty towels. The hairdryer was covered with unknown oily stuff on the handle which I have no idea what it is. The bathroom stinks and I don’t get why the spare toilet paper roll was placed on the lid of the bin. They room looks old-school with very basic facilities- no fridge and no air-conditioning (I guess it’s standard to hotels in Scandinavia though). Get prepared to sleep with mosquitoes because there’s no mosquito net. There’s also no elevator so don’t travel with the elderly nor the disabled. Tye buffet dinner is not up to par. When my travel companions wanted to get more knuckles, we were told there’s no refill for the finished dish. The only good thing is it’s conveniently located. There’s another hotel in the area opposite to this one called Alexandra but both hotels share the same owner. That explains why this hotel earns so many poor reviews. I have stayed in 3-star and even 2-star hotels in Europe and in China but I can tell this is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.…
We liked the room with a nice view, but the tap in the bathroom was dripping and they didn’t fix it. (We asked them to). We couldn’t take the soap out of it’s utensil/container, the didn’t fix it ether. The girl at the reception desk ( her name Katrin) was really nice and gave us recommendations where to go near Loen.
This was our first visit to Norway and we chose to stay in the quiet town of Loen, with its famous apple juice. The hotel was welcoming and we'll presented facing the teal blue rivers and lake. The rooms were quiet and very comfortable with a lovely ensuite shower and TV, very comfy beds and a great view. The bar is extensive enough but only open during the evening, considering this isn't all inclusive it would be nice to get drinks soft or long during the day without having to venture out to the supermarket. The evening meals are delicious and varied with a buffet style dining experience and our table reserved for us for the duration of our stay. Open from 7 until 9 this does give a fairly narrow opportunity to dine, especially with coach loads of travellers arriving nightly it can get very crowded and difficult to get food. On one occasion I had to go without my mains simply because I couldn't get it. They should look at extending the opening hours and maybe phasing the intake to make it easier. The food however was always excellent and the service very friendly. I can recommend this hotel as a retreat for families and couples alike. Amenities include indoor and outdoor swimming, a gym, pool, snooker and shuffleboard, free pedalo hire, extensive bars and a spa with sauna. Some are available through the main hotel Alexandra over the road which is part of the same group. I had a lovely stay here and look forward to returning in the future. …
We came to this hotel on our round trip Norway and when we arrived it was already very quit When unloaded the bagage when came to a closed door!!!!! There was a small paper on the window that guests with reservations could go to the Alexandra hotel across the street There we were welcomed and our reservation was there!! But very bad to not inform your guests that they have to go to another hotel
Bad service from a female receptionist who was very unfriendly when checking in and I got dirty towels in my room. The food in the buffet is also of low standard and is not a hotel I would ever stay in again.
We stayed here for two nights, the hotel facility was little bit out of date. No elevator to the 2nd floor, I felt sorry for those aged tourists with the large luggage. The room was clean, breakfast was not bad. Our room rate did not cover the dinner and it was little bit overpriced. However, the location of the hotel was very convenient, less than 5 minutes to bus station and the Loen Skylift. If you have time to take a morning walk around the hotel, it was very nice.
