Nice hotel. We were told we were upgraded to a room with a view but I think any room you're in would have an excellent view. The hotel was nice and clean. We stayed here to do the Via Ferrata but don't know there is much else to do here. We split a hamburger in our room for $28 USD (the staff acted very confused that we didn't want to eat in the restaurant)-- the restaurant menu looked pretty upscale and we just weren't in the mood for a big heavy expensive meal. Breakfast buffet was really good (but is there a bad breakfast buffet in Europe, I dont' think so).

Our room was comfortable. We booked the room with view of the Mountain and the Skylift. We liked the sitting area and the TV. Plenty of free parking. Good water pressure in the shower. The breakfast was fine and typical of what one finds in Norway: eggs, meats, breads, coffee/tea, fruit, cereal and so forth. There is a bar and a river-side restaurant. We have eaten there several times throughout the years (get the beef/veal). This time we tried the Chicken Ballotine — worse meal we ever had at a restraunt! Yuk! I included a photo of it here. Pressed prossessed chicken in cheese sause. There was a flat patty of something made out of corn flour under the slab of chicken. Dreadful. Excellent service though, both in the restraunt and during check-in and check-out. Take the Skylift if you can — it is walking distance from the hotel. No swimming pool.

Really nice and cozy hotel located at the waterfront by the river in Loen. Great dinner offered at the restaurant “Fiskekroken” at night, however way too big desserts served. We ordered ice cream for dessert for our 4y/o from the kids dessert menu. The “one-scoop” ice cream turned out to be three huge scoops in addition to three scoops with cream. Also, a little busy at the breakfast-buffet in the morning, most likely due to the time of the visit (high-season). Anyway, great food and a great visit in lovely Loen. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights - it’s really dated and the breakfast buffet was pretty shocking. The gent behind reception was very nice and the evening meals were ok.

It was supposed to be a base for doing Loen active which was why we stayed 3 nights. In reality 1 night was sufficient, as there is nothing else in Loen ( not even a coffee shop let alone restaurants etc ) and would def suggest driving on to Stryn which had much more life.

The hotel tv and all of the marketing claims you can use the Alexandra’s spa and restaurants and gym - in reality you cannot. We went to Alexandra and tbh it was really not great either, looks tired too and staff were super unfriendly bordering rude.

Go to Stryn instead !

Horrible experience from the get-go! We reached and had booked a room with views to the fjord.

The room is dated beyond belief! Like I mentioned earlier, we had booked a room with a view, and when we looked out, bushes blocked the whole view! I went back to the reception and was old this all they have and she can’t help us. She just works there and it’s out of her hands. Did not seem interested that I had booked a room type which they could not honor.

I went back to the room and decided to find an alternative hotel which I did in a matter of minutes. I went back to reception and told them I would like to checkout since they could not honor my reservation. I was told that it would be fine but she cannot refund us today and she will call management to find out how they could process. A few minutes later, I was told they could refund us, but it would only happen on the following day. This sounded a bit shady to say the least. When I reluctantly agreed to check out, she magically offered us another room with a view. The room had somewhat of a better view only half covered by a bushes!

I informed them that I would take the room but would be checking out the day after instead of staying for two nights. She then repeated, it's up to you, but I can refund you tomorrow and not today. The next morning, another lady was at the reception who was much more polite. I was informed that they don’t have enough cash to refund me and credit card refund would take a long time. She guided me to her “manager” at a nearby hotel. The staff at the other hotel were very polite and I informed the manager who seemed shocked. They promptly refunded me and apologized for the experience.

Although the staff on the second day and manager were polite, the room and staff at check in ruined the whole experience. Would not recommend at all!

Pros: good views. Cons: no WiFi, outdated rooms (shabby furnishings, no outlets near bed), poor food and service (rude waitresses) in restaurant. This was the only hotel we stayed at in Norway that I would not recommend.

We were booked in this hotel thru an agency who had set up a tour for us. We really liked this hotel. It is older but is well maintained and clean. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The buffet breakfast was great. Dinner was also very good with the fish soup as flavorful as any we've had. We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Loen.

Don’t get fooled by the pictures! The interior is old. The amenities and facilities are so so so basic. Pillows are horrible. Carpet in the bedroom looks dirty and old. Whatever price you pay, if you know a good standards and want a comfortable stay, then this hotel is not what you looking for.

Nice view to the river and fjord. Room was very clean, beds perfect, balcony and bath so nice to have. Only breakfast was basic style and made for crowd of tourists and there really was 5 (five) coaches of Spanish ones. It didn't help taking long peaceful Sunday morning breakfast

We had a very nice room with a balcony overlooking the fjord. There was a minibar but no kettle in the room. We had an evening meal and breakfast in the dining room both of which were excellent.
As there were other groups of tourists the dining room was rather crowded but on the whole it was a satisfactory stay. The best part was the view from our room.
NB There is no lift in the hotel so if you are assigned an upstairs room you will have to carry your own luggage to the room.

There are NO tea making facilities in the room. Due to health and safety regulations there are usually no coffee machines or tea kettles in the rooms. You can buy it in the bar. (Many hotels in Norway offer free coffee and tea in the lobby areas, this one does not.) In Norway most rooms have build-in hair dryers. Or you can Ask to borrow one.
