The hotel is conveniently located with views of Halden and the city’s seaports. Short walk to both the fortress and to Halden city centre, and a short drive to Sweden. The hotel focuses on short trip and organic food, making it taste very good. The historic building mass and proximity to Fredriksten fortress contribute to creating an exciting atmosphere.

The hotel is perfect located on the top of Halden, and right next to Fredriksten festning with beautiful views over the city and the ocean. We chose the Superior double room, clean and spacious. No view over the city on the first floor. Coffee machine in the room, but no water boiler for tea. Nice breakfast, local food and much of it homemade. I love their food filosofy (don't grab more than you eat, don't throw away food). A nice walk down to the city for dinner or drinks, a steep return but a nice walk. Lovely staff, but only one at work in front the weekend we visited. We brought our dog, that was not a problem.

Quiet and quiet. Good beds. Unfortunately carpets on the floor in the room. Varied and properly good breakfast. True egg pudding, real pressed orange juice and homemade jam.
Nice views and terraces where you can enjoy it. Free parking.
Great to walk down and up from town then.

We stayed in a large family room, but the positive stops there. We had zero views, so right in a roof (the hotel advertises with great views). The room was stunning and cold, black and white striped wallpaper and black curtains. No interior/styling to make the room pleasant. The sofa was not good to sit in, nasty fabric that stacked in addition to being dirty, spots everywhere and we found garbage and beer taps in it. The double bed was also not clean, there we found several snus bags behind the mattress towards the bed present. The top mattress on one single bed was also dirty - large yellow spot. The dyes and pillows seemed to be the last remains. Nobody had the same pillows or duvets - old yellow fiber pillows that were just clumps and lead-long fiber duvets. Absolutely no luxury!

We paid 350 DKK for the travel bed for the baby, but it lacked mattresses, pillows, pillows and duvet cover.

There was almost no water pressure in the shower.

Breakfast was good but they were empty for bread 90 minutes before breakfast was finished. Nobody cleaned the tables along the way.

We woke up to a terrible noise about the nights coming from under our room, sounded like someone stood and hammered and knocked on the walls. So there was two hours of no sleep every night. Not nice!

We paid pretty much for our stay at this hotel, but it ⁇ did not meet our expectations. Expected a pleasant atmosphere, but we unfortunately did not experience it.

I had a bad weekend here at a wedding. Almost the hole wedding party got the wrong rooms but they were able to fix it a little. making some small mistakes can happen and is something that sometimes may happen but then I would expect them to fix it but that is were I felt they did a bad job. We didn't get what we wanted either but then I thought they were able to fix us a double room for one night and with the mes they were willing to give us a discount but then when I checked out on the last day I found that I hadn't gotten a discount but instead needed to pay extra for both nights and that is unacceptable. not only that but when we had breakfast the waiter wasn't willing to let everyone finish eating at out table before taking our plates and when we asked for it back then there was no apology except a rude smirk.

We had two different rooms so I can rate them both and the small room was incredibly small, in fact its the smallest hotell room I have been in I think. The larger double room was good but noisy. The rooms are far from soundproof and we could hear every room around us. The hall on the floor above us were people were walking all night witch should be ok but since the rooms had such thin walls then it got disruptive.

I can end this with stating that the location with a great view was nice but the rest was appalling. This is a hotell I must regrettably not be able to recommend to anyone.

Great location, good beds, clean and nice. Nice outdoor area and large parking. Very nice and service-minded staff. We were also a bunch of friends who ate dinner in the evening and the food was amazing! Per ⁇ there should be some extra staff at the front desk at check-in, especially when the hotel is full. Reading lamps at the beds are a miss.

The staff is friendly, although extremely small. The truth is the hotel seems a bit abandoned to its own luck. Looks like a school or hospital, not the historic hotel that it claims. We were a little disappointed.
The hotel is difficult to reach and we took a long time to find it. When we finally found him, it was thanks to the plates in the area of Fortaleza. The same can be said of the reception, which we found only in the third attempt. The room also did not meet expectations. These rooms should have a guaranteed view of Iddefjord or Fortaleza, while our room had a view of the parking lot. Breakfast is very simple. We did not understand how this HOTEL could be called historic, besides some posters and room names, there was little history.

Nice welcome at the reception. Small room but clean and nice and more than enough for a good night's sleep in delicious soft bed. Spacious shower with a shower wall that actually keeps the water inside the shower zone. Fantastic good breakfast with lots of organic and homemade food. Nice outdoor area with jacuzzi and seating area.

We have stayed twice at this hotel located close to the impressive fortress in Halden. The view is great and the service was also very good. The breakfast should have been a bit better. The bread wasn't any good and not all the items looked very tempting. A very nice room (superior)!

A really nice hotel in historical setting. Nice rooms, good bed and beautiful views of Halden and Idefjorden. Good food for dinner and breakfast.
Evening dip in the outdoor spa at sunset was wonderful.
Extra plus for all staff who understand service and customer service

Hi and thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we do not have a gym in the hotel, but Fredriksten Fortress right outside the hotel offers great roads and trails suitable for both good walks and nice running.
