The Markree is not a hotel but a wedding and corporate venue. It was built by a general in Oliver Cromwell's invading army then fell into disrepair and was restored. Hollywood shoots romantic films here - what more do you need to know? It is...More
It was an amazing location!!! The renovations have really paid off. There was even a Hallmark movie being filmed the day I was there - Royally Ever After! The food at the castle was splendid, and atmosphere was phenomenal.
This picturesque castle is truly exquisite. Beautifully restored interiors are breathtakingly beautiful. Sumptuous food. Exceptional service and presentation. It was a wedding venue to remember. For anyone looking for some privacy to party, Markree must be considered.

I think that would be no problem, but its not really a place I would recommend to stop for tea or dinner. When we had dinner it was so noisy we tried to find another place to take our dinner and so we ate in the lounge but it was extremely uncomfortable and the food was just so-so. I think you're probably looking for a place a little more elegant than this.
