Had family lunch on St Patrick’s day. We used to go every year Pre Covid and it was always a lovely experience. We were very disappointed this year. Food was ok, chicken wings and apple pie delicious, brownies were poor and mains generally just ok. But the service let the whole thing down. Seemed to be lots of staff and the place was not that busy at 2pm, but the staff were very inexperienced and not welcoming. No sign of management. No possibility of a table for a drink after dinner. No sparkling water!! ….. We had to go to the shop to get some. Overall a bit of a damp squib and I don’t think we will be back unfortunately. Also they don’t do half potions of the Sunday roast for kids, which is a pity and €13 for kids pasta bolognese is a rip off!
Visited this hotel Sunday evening....our waitress was very helpful and such a lovely hotel.starters were very nice although I was very disappointed with my salmon main course....it was a very very small piece of the tail end of salmon... maybe after a busy day not so plentiful...as I was been treated to dinner I felt I couldn't say anything....left feeling very disappointed that this was acceptable to serve as main course
I stayed at the Old Post Office which is accommodation provided by the Conyngham Arms hotel in Slane. We arrived on a wet and dreary night after a 3 hour drive and the room was just so fantastic. It was really cosy when we arrived. Check in was a breeze! We checked in with the hotel reception and crossed the road to the Old Post Office. There was plenty of street parking and also parking available in the hotel car park. The room was lovely. It was really warm and inviting. The windows had an extra glass panel to help keep the traffic noise out. The room was tastefully decorated and the bed was comfy. Really lovely large shower too and plenty of hot water. The room had a lovely coffee machine but a kettle for a cup of tea would be lovely. We improvised and ran the coffee machine on water to make the tea. Breakfast was in the hotel again the following morning. We both had a fry and it was just lovely. The dining area was really nicely decorated. It is the best black pudding I've had in a hotel! Everything was freshly made. Check out was quick and easy, which was fantastic because we were travelling to a wedding. Overall, would definitely stay again! …
We stayed here for one night in the family room. The rooms were interconnected with a separate main door. Feels like a mini apartment. Beautifully decorated. On arrival we were greeted by Sinead who was extremely friendly & helpful. Food at dinner & breakfast was gorgeous. We highly recommend a stay here. We will be back. thank you to the staff for making our stay enjoyable.
I was once a regular in this hotel. What has gone so badly wrong. This place was good. and busy. I was in it recently to meet a friend had the burger. It was burned over cooked and cold. I didn't give it back because I didn't want anything else from a kitchen where such bad food came from. I wont be back again. Its a shame for Slane to have such a bad place.
Honestly, I don't know where to start. I used to love this little gem of a hotel, either for an overnight stay or a quick bite to eat. The notice board is held together by sellotape and empty flower pots full of rubbish or window frames not being washed down should have been given away to stay away. Went in on Saturday morning to ask for a table for 3. wasn't busy with only one other table, The staff need customer service training, and got an attitude offer because I asked for a table. The waitress came to take the order and rolled her eyes as my 96-year-old grandmother was given her order. Got a full Irish and not going to lie the bacon must have been forgotten about, I could have done damage. The owner must not give a damn about it. Slane village deserves a better hotel.
Stayed at this hotel on August 2nd with my two children aged 7 and 3. Arrived to a closed door with a notice saying the bar and restaurant were closed for renovations. Had to call in the window to gain access and was told that the whole village was closed for food and I "just won't get anything anywhere". Had no communication regarding this and paid full price for the stay. Travelled to the next town for lunch and was told there would be a takeaway open later in the evening - I had to press for this information. Receptionist was cold and unhelpful. Did not offer porterage even though the hotel does not have a lift, I had a large suitcase and two small children. No takeaway available later that evening, we all went to bed hungry. During the stay, when I thought we would be able to organise dinner somewhere, I asked if I could have one glass of wine to the room with it and was told "no, but there's an off licence up the street". The full extent of their hospitality to me was to hand me a room key and send me on my way. Requested to speak with the GM after we had returned home and was told by phone that he is based at another property. Asked for phone number and was told that I "probably won't get him". Eventually had minimal contact with him, mainly to advise that my refund had been processed. Receptionist confirmed that this was his "full acknowledgment of my grievances". Referred to Failte Ireland who opened a case, the hotel has failed to engage. Received a full refund but no accountability for my treatment. I am ashamed to think that other tourists had travelled to this destination to be treated with such contempt. This hotel should not hold a three star rating and is not fit for purpose under it's current management.…
We stopped by here after visiting Newgrange monument as it’s not too far to drive to. I remembered we had been here before a few years ago. Popped my head in the door to see if it was the right way in and the most pleasant staff assured us it was and a huge smile greeted us from all the lovely staff. Immediately seated in a comfortable area and promptly given menus . A great choice of starters and mains and drinks etc . We ordered and the food was amazing and very well presented. A nice bit of music on in the background and the toilets were excellent with very posh Voya products to use . The desserts were unbelievable and the staff were extremely well trained and pleasant. The only criticism I have is the carpet needs replacing and the walls painted as it looked a bit frayed and scuffed. Otherwise well done to everyone. We will be back!…
We stayed in a room in their second part across the road (the Old Post Office). The room was very nice and spacious. We slept well. The Breakfast was however disappointing (little choice and expensive). I think few things could be improved to make this place really good: - a door mat would be a good idea as coming back in the room with wet shoes (it's Ireland!) on a cream carpet make very little sense. - a system to limit the noise of the main front door of the Old Post Office building would be a good idea as it slams strong enough to wake you up. - the breakfast is where most effort should focus. I had the eggs benedict and everything was overcooked (even the rasher that came with the unfortunately hard boiled egg). It would be clever to have option as granola, pastries and fruits beside what is already on offer. Fresh orange juice would also be nice instead of juice from the carton. All in all, I would stay there again if I was to come back to Slane.…
On more than a number of occasions we’ve been turned away because they lack the tables and chairs to accommodate us. There’s only a handful of tables in the restaurant, it’s extremely claustrophobic and the staff aren’t particularly friendly. Just atrocious how it’s all managed. The food is good when you actually get the chance to sit down and eat there. Embarrassing. You suck.
