I have just returned from a two-day visit to Ballinasloe where we stayed at Hayden's Hotel in Dunlo Street - a hotel which has seen a dismal drop in business since its hey-day at the end of the last century. It was ridiculously cheap - €40 per night single occupancy, which was half what the other hotels in the town... More

it was my only choice as the other places in the area were full because of a big wedding in town the breakfast was nice and coffee in the room was nice. no hair dryer in the room. the place is right beside a nightclub so is very noisy. especially on satuday night the bed is as hard as nails... Hayden's was always a hotel we stopped at when travelling from Dublin to Connemara in the 1970s, so it was with a little nostalgia that we stopped for lunch. The visit didn't last long as the hotel failed to impress from the scruffy and dirty exterior to the smell of the toilets that invaded the sitting area near the reception... More

This hotel was in past years an icon in Ballinasloe, I can remember long before such things interested me hearing that, you would need to book your wedding 2 years in advance to ensure you get the weekend you wanted. The restaurant was renowned, and the hotel for years synonymous the O’Carroll family was “the place to eat, stay or... More

Stayed here for two nights on a weekend away. I came here years ago before it was taken over of course it was noting like then. Firstly When we arrived we checked in (was very quick) one of the management offered to take our bags up stairs. We came back down at 5 for dinner which was outstanding could not... More

Stayed here on a Saturday night in April 2015. I'm really not sure where to begin...so easier to start with the positives or in this case the only positive - the food was good. The negatives: 1) from the outside the hotel looks old and dishevelled.....that should have been forewarning enough 2) on checking in, the receptionist took full payment... More

We decided to take a detour via Ballinasloe to visit Haydens for our dinner, last time we were in the area it was closed for renovations. When we pulled up we tought the place was still closed the front of the building looks derelict, old shattered filthy canopy at the front and above that drab lace curtains, it just looked... More

I stayed here for 2 nights with my family and didn't have anything to complain about. We arrived very early and we're given a smaller room instead of having to wait until the booking in time. Beds were very comfortable and clean. Reception staff were not over friendly but not unfriendly either. Breakfast was great and my young son was... More

Stopped by for carvery lunch on route from Dublin to Galway. Initial reaction to the hotel is that it needs a make over. At the entrance there is a picture of The Brennan's from RTE programme at your service. They did a makeover in 2012 but it appears that hotel has fallen back to its old ways. The restaurant was... Hotel is in a good location. However there was no atmosphere in the restaurant or bar and the rooms were very basic and in need of updating for sure. Staff were okay but not friendly. Food was good though.
