We didn't know what to expect pulling into the remote Vatnsholt guesthouse. We were off to a fun start though when we spotted the horses, dogs, birds, turtles, and rabbits that were in and around the reception area. The very kind staff showed us to our room (#9). Wow! A nice, big room with the most comfortable bed we slept... More

This nice farmhouse B&B is located out on a country road off Rte 1. They have quite the menagerie which is a lot of fun. At least 2 dogs (including a very friendly black Labrador and a very waddling bulldog), birds, turtles, pigeons, chickens, ravens, a pig and 2 adorable Arctic foxes. Presumably this is a big attraction for families... More

Midway into our guided trip, we stayed at Vatnsholt. We were very lucky to be in a house. Our 2 families and guides had the run of the house the first night. We could spread out and enjoy ourselves. The 2nd night we took advantage of a well appointed kitchen (although there is no microwave) and made dinner. Given the... More

You are completely in the middle of nowhere!! There is nothing around for several miles!! However, when you are in Iceland, remote is what you can expect. The rooms are small, the bathrooms are small, the beds are comfortable, the accommodations are basic. However, for a night, it's adequate. The dinner in the restaurant was fine and the service was... We were exploring the South coast of Iceland and found this farm guest house. When I booked the day prior, I had no idea it was quite as remote as it was, but it worked out great. Lovely views of the lake and mountains, especially if it's a clear day. We arrived at 12 for check in and our rooms... More

I read some of the other reviews describing substandard rooms. but we stayed in the new guest house, and our room was lovely, all new furnishings, and a huge bathroom with tub. This quirky place has all sorts of fun pets and lots of kids activities. The views are GORGEOUS and you feel like you are away from civilization. Breakfast... More

We were in Selfoss 25may15 and stayed at the Vatnsholt. The clerk was a young girl who seemed annoyed that she had to serve a customer. She reluctantly took our voucher and lead us to our accommodations. I inquired about WIFI she said that it was available in the lobby, but only in rooms for an additional charge. Since the... More

When my friend and I arrived here, we could not figure out why in the world we had booked here. We still don't know, although we both tried to blame the other. The rooms were barely adequate, but they were adequate. And although it's self catering for meals other than breakfast, they had some very delicious beer on tap, which... More

We wanted to stay here because I thought it would be fun for my daughter to be on a farm in Iceland. She loved it! Labradors, horses, a raven, a bulldog, and more. The room was extremely comfortable and breakfast was good. It was close to Selfoss and we had one of the best dinners of our lives at a... More
