It’s insanely unhygienic to put pillows that has never been washed as a pillow for your head to sleep on! How do I know they haven’t been washed? The cover was not removable from the pillow and it had some hair on it from a previous customer. I would like an answer from the hotel on why they think it’s acceptable to have unwashable pillows in the bed? If the cover is not removable you cannot wash it unless you are going to throw the whole pillow in the machine, which im sure you do not. So disgusting. Got that unwashed pillow plus one clean which was super thin and lumpy! Neither me nor my boyfriend were happy and we almost left. Never again…

We stayed in one of their lovely cottages. Very cute and warm and we had a lovely stay. Was a great stop off point before going back to Reykjavik. The main building was also lovely, with complementary hot drinks and a games room. Warm and welcoming.

My husband and I stayed at Vatnsholt on the first night of our trip and also reserved the previous night so that we would have a room available when we arrived to nap in after our overnight flight. Vatnsholt was very pleasant to deal with both before our trip and during it. We emailed them ahead of time to let them know we reserved the night before our stay hoping for an early morning check-in and they were happy to accommodate. The room itself was cozy and clean. It was a bit hot but we're used to sleeping with air conditioning, and that's not really the accommodations' fault. The bed was comfortable enough. The hot water did run out pretty quickly in the morning and the bathroom was very small, making it difficult to find somewhere to put our toiletries. The wifi was very good. The grounds were lovely! It was nice seeing livestock roaming the property. It was very quiet at night. We paid $207.03 for the two nights, which was reasonable. I'd recommend Vatnsholt to those looking for reasonably-priced accommodations near Selfoss.

We stayed two nights in the deluxe room, which was very spacious, clean and with an amazing bathroom. The room was under eaves, giving an overall sense of cosiness and homeliness. Breakfast is various and served in a large restaurant room next to reception, with different hot and cold choices, pastries, bread, etc. Staff are polite and speak good English. Only downside was that they didn't clean our room at all, which I'm not sure whether it was due to us not leaving the keys back to reception or not (they didn't tell us anything at check-in). We had an early bird deal and price was really affordable for Icelandic standards. Overall a positive experience in the middle of the countryside.

this guesthouse in located in the outskirts of selfoss..if u are doing the ring road trip, then the location of this guesthouse might suit you.. the room was very small..but its a budget room with complimentary breakfast..the bathroom was also very small..but we managed it because it was the cheapest room that we got in Selfoss area(room with a private bathroom) Initially, the window of our room was broken..there was no curtains in the bathroom also...but later they changed our rooms..

Guesthouse Vatnsholt feels like the real Iceland. Just 15 minutes' drive from Rt 1, it still feels in-the-middle-of-nowhere on the flat plains of the southern coast. The cabins are super cozy with wonderful big windows out onto the fields. We stayed just two nights, so the limited space worked fine for us. The staff were warm and kind and the rec room was a nice place to intersect with fellow travelers. Definitely on the casual/rustic side.

Ok so this place was decent for the price. Here are some bullet points. Con: The shower door was broken, it was difficult to shut the door as it was off the track and it didn’t shut all the way which let water get on the floor. There was no vent in the bathroom. There were no hooks to hang the towels. We had a room in the building to the side of the main building and you had to take off your shoes at the door and then walk down the hall to get to your room in the winter. Not very convenient. Although they did leave slippers in the mid room. The staff was not overly friendly. Pros: the room had plenty of space for 3 people (we had a double bed and twin bunk beds). They gave you good quality soap. The beds are very comfy. The decor is cute and made us feel at home. There are plenty of sockets for you to charge phones, camera batteries, watches, iPads, etc all at once. The heat worked perfectly. The breakfast was extensive and delicious.

My wife and I stayed at one of the cottages. Although really tiny, it was very cute and cozy - like staying in a gnome's home. There was no TV, but that was okay with us. The main building had a great lounge area with turtles, parrot, foosball table, and board games. The restaurant was nice, too. The dinner was one of the best meals we had in Iceland. Three course dinner costs ISK6000. Mushroom soup and pork were exceptional, but desert was meh. Breakfast pleasantly surprised us too - nice selection of cheese spreads, cheeses, and jams; delicious waffles, red and black caviar, and different kinds of herrings. It was by far better than in other hotels we stayed during this trip. Additionally, the hotel offers complimentary hot beverages available in the restaurant. The best part of our stay was incredible Northern lights. The staff knocked on our door to let us know that there was visible activity in the sky. And it was a truly amazing, one of the most beautiful things we've ever seen in our lives. But note that the staff is there only till 11:00pm, so if the light is active later at night, you'll have to check for it yourself. Overall, it was a great stay and we would definitely come back. Also, I highly recommend this place for families with children.
