We stayed two nights in the deluxe room, which was very spacious, clean and with an amazing bathroom. The room was under eaves, giving an overall sense of cosiness and homeliness. Breakfast is various and served in a large restaurant room next to reception, with different hot and cold choices, pastries, bread, etc. Staff are polite and speak good English. Only downside was that they didn't clean our room at all, which I'm not sure whether it was due to us not leaving the keys back to reception or not (they didn't tell us anything at check-in). We had an early bird deal and price was really affordable for Icelandic standards. Overall a positive experience in the middle of the countryside.
this guesthouse in located in the outskirts of selfoss..if u are doing the ring road trip, then the location of this guesthouse might suit you.. the room was very small..but its a budget room with complimentary breakfast..the bathroom was also very small..but we managed it because it was the cheapest room that we got in Selfoss area(room with a private bathroom) Initially, the window of our room was broken..there was no curtains in the bathroom also...but later they changed our rooms..
Guesthouse Vatnsholt feels like the real Iceland. Just 15 minutes' drive from Rt 1, it still feels in-the-middle-of-nowhere on the flat plains of the southern coast. The cabins are super cozy with wonderful big windows out onto the fields. We stayed just two nights, so the limited space worked fine for us. The staff were warm and kind and the rec room was a nice place to intersect with fellow travelers. Definitely on the casual/rustic side.
Really great place to stay, we stayed in the guesthouse in front of the reception. We really loved it, very friendly staff, dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the room was nice too. Comfortable bed and a quiet place to sleep.
Ok so this place was decent for the price. Here are some bullet points. Con: The shower door was broken, it was difficult to shut the door as it was off the track and it didn’t shut all the way which let water get on the floor. There was no vent in the bathroom. There were no hooks to hang the towels. We had a room in the building to the side of the main building and you had to take off your shoes at the door and then walk down the hall to get to your room in the winter. Not very convenient. Although they did leave slippers in the mid room. The staff was not overly friendly. Pros: the room had plenty of space for 3 people (we had a double bed and twin bunk beds). They gave you good quality soap. The beds are very comfy. The decor is cute and made us feel at home. There are plenty of sockets for you to charge phones, camera batteries, watches, iPads, etc all at once. The heat worked perfectly. The breakfast was extensive and delicious. …
