The room we had, a superior double, was large, modern, clean and very well equipped. It was in one of the small separate blocks located around the grounds, but only a short walk (or very short drive if it was raining) from reception and the restaurant. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows reasonably so. There was a small patio with two chairs and a table outside the room and this was fairly well sheltered from the wind, and quite a sun trap when the sun was out. Blackout lining to the curtains helped sleeping during the long hours of daylight. Although we didn’t use it, there was a hot tub outside for use by the six rooms in our block, with robes and slippers provided in the room. Although we would highly recommend the hotel, we did feel it was let down a little by dinner in its restaurant. The choice and quality of the food was very average and certainly didn’t justify the “fine dining” price tag. Like everywhere in Iceland it seems, wine was very expensive too. Breakfast, however, was excellent and included in the room price. The hotel is classified as 5 star but, in my opinion, the poor dining experience suggests it is only 4 star.…
Very nice and very good service - everything was good and everybody was very friendly. Every meal was Delicious both the breakfast and dinner. It was very lovely to stay and I will surely come back with my family.
The beds were suppressed and made. And poor to offer Ikea beds in a 5 star hotel. It was not possible to lie in them for more than 3 to 4 hours. Then you were dying of back pain. The toilet roll stand was falling apart and the blackout curtains were torn
Everythjng was great. We were very happy with the stay. We had been planning this for a long time and liked the offer that we got on the net with two nights and It fulfilled all our expectations and will certainly recommend it
Nice hotel but not a 5 star. Comfy bed. Clean. Cold and dirty hot tub. Broken furniture on the balcony. Not so good service at the restaurant, the food was ok. Check your bill before you pay, I was charged for few drinks I did not order. Good location and alot of interesting places to see around this location.
We stayed for 4 nights in a 2 bed apartment and thoroughly enjoyed it. The apartment was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. On arrival the receptionist showed us to our apartment which was a short drive from the main building and she even offered to pick us up later to take us for our evening meal and drive us back afterwards. The mini bar was great but very expensive so we only had one beer! The food was excellent and the waiters very friendly and efficient. We also enjoyed the entertainment during our meal, a very good pianist played and a singer also joined him on one evening. We really looked forward to breakfast, it was lovely, with a great selection including a cooked breakfast! Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.…
We spent 10 days exploring Iceland and our 2 nights at Hotel Grimsborgir were the highlight of our trip. The service and food was excellent but what really made our stay memorable was an awesome upgrade to a 4 bedroom villa due to the jacuzzi in our original room not working. This was above and beyond and truly appreciated. Thanks Heinrich for the hook up!
Excellent location and superb breakfast buffet. Dinner was a little hit and miss Be warned that 4 bedroom apartments only have one real bathroom/shower as the guest bathroom mentioned is just a toilet and washbasin.
I booked a suite for my bfs birthday. I had requested for cake and champagne in the suite when we arrive and for the live pianist to play the happy birthday song when we enter for dinner. When we arrived, the suite was freezing cold and there were no cutlery for the cake (bearing in mind I asked for a cake and they just had 2 slices of a cake) and the champagne bottle was not there. The lady had to take multiple trips to the lobby to get us an electric fan heater, cutlery, lighter to light the candles, champagne and ice. Then we went for dinner - and the pianist did not play the birthday song, so I asked the waiter politely if this was possible and he agreed and yet didn’t do it and I asked the second waiter and same again. The hotel was not even busy. The service at this hotel is beyond poor. The decor and interior was of very cheap quality, the hot tub was very uncomfortable as it was windy and there was no wall/ fence to shield the wind. The lights did not have a dimmer and the chandeliers above the bed didn’t even work- was flickering. Will not bother with this place again.…
A family of 4, we stayed in a junior suite for 2 nights. The hotel is luxury but in a beautiful countryside setting away from busy city, and giving quick access to the golden circle route. Breakfast in the hotel was amazing and not to be missed.
