With view of Iceland's two major glaciers, the location of Glacier View Guesthouse can't be beat. It is ideal for forays into the Fjallabak region of the Highlands. The exteriors present an uninspiring row of conjoined box-like cabins. However, the interiors are imbued with thoughtful touches that make for a pleasant ambience and a comfortable stay.

There's a charming common area where dinner and breakfast are served. We had the dinner on offer - a soup with bread and dessert for 3500 ISK. It was alright, nothing to write home about. The nearest restaurant is 40 mins away so either you come with your own food or sign up for the in-house meal.

The service staff was eager and helpful. All in all, a fine place to stay before you launch into the delights of the Icelandic Highlands.

This guesthouse excels in all the aspects a guesthouse should excel: easy to communicate, gorgeous location in stunning landscape, very nice and modern rooms, extremely friendly hosts. very comfy common area where you can feel at home, good dinner with all guest at one table - like a big family, great breakfast, fast Internet (they have fiber in this remote location), etc
Only drawback is you need to do 6-7kms of gravel road in order to arrive there. But once you are there you can just enjoy and relax. 🙂

Glacier View Guesthouse was our favorite lodging during our recent stay. The hosts were so gracious and kind - they even waited up for us when we were late arriving our first night, and offered us cookies! The sitting and dining rooms were cozy with a incredible view of the glacier through their large window and on the surrounding deck. They offered a full delightful breakfast and we had dinner one night - homemade soup, bread and dessert! We were also centrally located to many sites in the southern part of Iceland. I highly recommend this guesthouse!

We stayed at Glacier View Guesthouse for 3 nights in July. It is the perfect place to stay when you want to see sights and do activities around Vík and so called "Klaustur", or if you want to go up to Landmannarlaugar on route F208.

The hosts are wondful and welcoming people who put a lot of effort and love into their business. I especially liked the ideas of having dinner together with other guests where they cook different types of soups (excellent!) and people get to know each other and can exchange their experiences and give each other tips. The launch in the main house is beautifully furnished and you can see that they put a lot of love and effort into furnishing it. From the main building you can have a stunning view on two (!) glaciers!

The breakfast was extensive and they ad something new and freshly pepared everyday - we loved that! Coffee was exceptionally good.

The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished in vintage style - very beautiful. They are clean and have a nice terrace where you can enjoy sunset if you like going to bed late in summer.

Glacier View Guesthouse is a great location and we will definitely return when we visit Iceland again!

Perfect location, Fabulous views but most importantly, was the welcome and great service we received. We were running late and they held dinner for us. The food was delicious as was the ice cold beer! :-). We loved the cozy dining/living room We had an early start the next day and they got up extra early to give us a packed breakfast/lunch. The coffee was ready too. The owners and staff were interesting and so very helpful. We talked about our welcome here for the rest of our Iceland vacation--Simply the best!

Beautiful rooms, excellent staff who went above and beyond, and a beautiful dining and lounge/sitting room area. Mikhail was very courteous and friendly showing me my room. The dinner was excellent although not much like the one pictured in the photos on Trip Advisor (soup and dinner rolls with chocolate cake for dessert, and as many servings as you wanted). We were made to feel very comfortable and very much at home. The staff was so attentive and gracious; when Mikhail overheard me telling someone at dinner that I would be leaving too early to have breakfast, he went out of his way to make sure to arrange a packed breakfast to be ready for me the next morning. The proprietor packed up the lunch for me and invited me to have a coffee with her in the morning before I left. (Unfortunately, I left too early even for that.) In the evening after dinner, I did a crossword puzzle in the sitting room while the guesthouse staff enjoyed playing cards in the adjoining dining room; it was like they were all family and we were invited to feel a part of that too. This, on top of the exceptional accommodations, made this guesthouse one of the best places I've ever stayed. I highly recommend staying here, and would suggest more than one night if possible.

I was traveling with my teenage daughters and this was our favorite accommodations of our entire trip in Iceland. Not only were the rooms extremely comfortable and well appointed, the views couldn't be beat. Even better than the accommodations were the staff and owners. They truly went above and beyond to make sure that their guests had everything they needed (and may not have even known they needed). Definitely eat dinner here as well. The soups are some of the best I have every had and the bread and desserts are home made. You will not leave hungry. Our only disappointment was that we only reserved 2 nights. You could easily spend 3-5 days in the area and stay busy with day trips. I highly recommend booking direct (instead of through booking.com).

We arrived at the guesthouse with a tour group but were separated from our group and accommodated in the main guest house (rather than the cabins). It had been snowing heavily and nobody had attempted to move the snow so our guide got stuck in the car park. We got the impression that they weren't expecting us - we were the only guests in the main guest house and the bed had only been made up for 1 person. 1 single duvet, 1 pillow and 1 towel. By the time we realised there was no one else around.
There was a tiny bathroom (which would have been shared if the other bedrooms had been occupied) with poor facilities. It was nothing like the photos from other travellers.
The radiator fell off the wall and on top of us - and it was very heavy! We had to try to bend the hooks to hang it back up.
The dinner was tasty but very basic and expensive considering it was just soup and a brownie. No drinks were offered to anyone.
It took us a while to realise that the other people who then joined us around the large dinner table were from another tour group. Once we figured that out and introduced ourselves it was very sociable and we very much enjoyed the company.
We were told that the guesthouse had recently changed ownership so I hope these are teething problems as our experience was nothing like what other reviewers have described!
I hope management get up to speed quickly!

We have been travelling during Covid-19 times therefore a lot of restrictions were in place. Despite that, the guys from this guesthause made the short time spent there (1 overnight) on family holiday in Iceland very special: they have prepared very nice meat, fish and vegetable soups accompanied with home made bread. We have tried meat and fish soups, both were very good while the fish was the best we ever ate in Iceland. All staff was extremely helpfull and friendly. And on the top great view from both their restaurant and appartments. Worth to stay there!

Our stay at the Glacier View Guesthouse was beautiful! Elin was the hostess with the mostess. The food was comforting and plentiful! My 2 young children felt at home and welcome here. There are no tvs in the guestrooms, but wifi and breathe taking views in all directions make tvs unnecessary! We have nothing but good memories from our stay! Thank you!
