Detailed Reviews
Stayed here 2 nights as part of Artic Adventures tour. The rooms are large but with very basic amenities. Tea and coffee in rooms. We only had one hanger each and there were no hooks to hang wet clothes. Only one chair provided even though there is plenty of room for more furniture.
Beds and bedding are very comfortable. We were at the back so could watch Northern lights in warmth and comfort. The restaurant provides only three main choices, Arctic Chard, leg of lamb both 1800isk or pasta which is cheaper. The food was quite nice, and service was very good.
Breakfast is continental, no hot food. Warm baguettes and croissant are nice. Restaurant must be used to groups as all the tables are set out for 8-10 people.
Biggest bugbear was poor Wi-Fi. We had to upload our antigen test and compete a Passenger Location form but we couldn’t. I was very grateful to the staff member (Alessandrio I think) who let me use his internet. We wasted a lot of time doing this, and it was unnecessary stress. My friend had to send hers to England via WhatsApp for her family to upload. Even if they had a one good hotspot it would help.

Very friendly and affordable hotel in a beautiful quiet surroundings, ideally located just next to Kirkjubaerklaustur! The staff was one of the best we’ve met in Iceland – friendly, helpful and with a sense of humour. Rooms are spacious, await you pleasantly warm and there’s everything you may possibly need, with some complimentary tea and coffee as well.
Hotel is also a perfect spot to observe northern lights at! Because it’s not directly in the town and it’s rather secluded right next to a picturesque hill. Oh, and you can also have a nice dinner with affordable local food in their restaurant. We would definitely come back again.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our trip to Southern Iceland. We stayed in the main building which reminded me of college dorms - hallway of rooms and a small common area. The rooms were simple but very clean and comfortable. Worked great for our family of 5 because we could get a double and triple room. Sits right up against the mountains and there's a waterfall within walking distance. They serve breakfast at the hotel and there is a great restaurant in the nearby town for dinner. Highly recommend this delightful place.

Stayed for two nights with the Arctic Adventures tour group. It snowed for the duration but the rooms were always warm at all times of the day. All fixtures and facilities were modern and I couldn't fault the cleanliness and upkeep at all. Don't worry about the location outside of the main town as meals are all available for a reasonable cost.
The only two tiny things I'd suggest would be to have all signs in more than one language. Even if hardly any native Icelanders use the hotel, we should be reminded that we're in their country. Secondly, the breakfast yogurt was fairly thin. If this was real skyr or at least a thicker better quality that would be a nice touch.

The highlight of the hotel was the staff, all really welcoming and friendly.
However the hotel infrastructure is really bad quality, we couldn’t sleep well because of the noises coming from other rooms corridor and main door. This hotel is mainly for groups, therefore at night they drink and make noise all night.
I would not recommend this hotel if you are traveling as a family or in couple.
Rooms are ok, clean.
Food was really good but had the same set menu both nights no option a la carte.

We spent 3 nights at Adventure Hotel Garland while we were exploring the south central part of Iceland. The hotel was clean and comfortable for us - family of 3 (2 adults and one teenager). We really appreciated the full buffet breakfast every morning before we ventured out. We had dinner at the hotel one of the night. The food was good but the meals were small and pricey so we found a more casual restaurant nearby the other two nights. The hotel is conveniently located - there was a restaurant, gas station, and convenience store nearby. Lots of sights to see within 1-1.5 hours west an east of the hotel. We were also lucky enough to see the northern lights our last night at the hotel!

This hotel is far too expensive. It's a poor 2-star hotel, the bed was very uncomfortable and the toilet so small that I had a problem sitting on it. The room was so poorly insulated that I could hear what people were saying in the hallway

This hotel just offers bed, showers and breakfast while driving the coast. Bed is good. Been here two times. Dinner is good. Breakfast mediocre. I missed a chair and a fridge in the room. Dinner and breakfast has very limited hours so a better possibility to prepare simple sandwiches in the room could have helped. The hotel is fair and square for a night or two.

This ‘hotel’ is situated in a nice location surrounded by great views! The accommodation is basic but provides just what’s required… comfortable bed, kettle for tea/coffee and little en-suite. The breakfast spread was continental with juice, tea/coffee and some fresh croissants. A nice stay while travelling around Iceland!

The bathroom sink blocked, another room given .it was sparse .my main complaint was the dinner we gad to eat at this hotel restaurant. As vegetarian my wifeand i ordered pasta .the plate was huge but the serving was totally ungenerous and it cost us 8000 kronos for two plates .this is a total rip off .we had no other option to eat at and we were at the mercy of this restaurant. I cd get a far better meal for half the cost. This is not fair pf the organisers to put us in this kind of country hotel and rip us off on meals

Hello, thank you for your message. You can safely drink tap water.
Best Regards,
Anastasia
I have been told that tap water in Iceland is very safe to drink and I never had any problems doing that.
We have just stayed there for four nights and the evening meal was very good, espeically the lamb. We also enjoyed the systrakaffi restaurant which was in Kirkjubaejarklaustur about 1.Km away. Hotel Gierland restaurant was authentic Iceland with local food, but systrakaffi did very good Pizzas.
Towels and kettle are provided. Breakfast maybe included depending on your booking arrangement. It is part of Iceland rural hotel chain. Excellent location for a night stop.
When we were there, june 2017, breakfast starts only at 8.00 am
