Detailed Reviews
I came twice in this guesthouse, the first was before Justin Bieber and the canyon was not a known location. The guesthouse remained the same, family-managed, based on nice independent silent cabins, dinner is good (it was better 4 years ago).
A useful tip: there are cabins with two rooms and a shared bathroom, so the ratio of guests and toilets is very convenient, or if you're a group of 4 you can have one entire cabin sharing the bathroom.

Location is good, make sure you visit Fjaðrárgljúfur while in the area, it is right there & very beautiful.
Room was warm, quiet, clean, comfortable mattress. I had a shared bathroom but it was clean & there were no issues as other guests were clean & respectful. Fun part was that you get like your own tiny house, it's a fun interesting experience, especially if aurora is around. It is very quiet both in the room
I really enjoyed dinner course menu, I think it was worth the money & the quality was definitely very good. They were also accepting & accommodating of my dietary restrictions, thank you! And the dinner was especially nice with a great choice of calm jazzy evening music - very relaxing after a long day. It was one of the most memorable dinner experiences while in Iceland, I really enjoyed it.
Breakfast was OK, with usual options in Icelandic hotels/guesthouses. Check in/out was quick, seamless. Staff very nice all the time. Parking free on premises.

The accommodation comprised cabins. The rooms were fairly ordinary, but comfortable. The restaurant in the main building had lovely views, and the food was excellent. There was also a good selection of wine. The staff were very helpful, and found us some nice glasses that we were able to take to our room. The accommodation is very close to the Fjadorargljufur Canyon, which is worth a detour.

We had a room with shares bathroom. Very small room indeed! Dinner in the restaurant was good. We ate lamb and plokkifiskur. The breakfast started too late concerning that all the glacier walks etc programs start early. This was surprice for us. Also some others had to leave without breakfast. We asked (and got) breakfast bag with us but it was only poor sandwich (ham and cheese inside) and banana.

Stayed there for one night.
When we arrived there was no one there to greet us so we had to call a service number and wait for about 10 minutes for someone to come.
The cabins are clean and comfortable, and the surroundings are very quiet and beautiful. The beds are rather small and firm but ok for at least one night.
The free wifi is terrible and almost useless. The breakfast buffet was very good though.

I normally don't give 5 stars, however we received the best customer service and value at this guesthouse during our 1 week tour of Iceland.
All our interactions with staff were exceptional. We stayed 2 nights and had to leave early one of the mornings for a glacier hike. As we were going to leave before breakfast was served (7:30am), the staff offered to make us a packed breakfast to take on the road which we greatly appreciated!
The food in the restaurant was delicious as was the breakfast.
The cottage was clean and comfortable.
No complaints!

We stayed here 2 nights as part of our Nordic visitor road trip.
The positives of this property are the great customer service and idyllic rural location. The staff are very welcoming and provided efficient service for check in and follow ups.
We prearranged a twin room months before our stay which didn’t eventuate. We ended up sharing another cabin with strangers rather than our accompanying family members.( there are two rooms per cabin with a shared bathroom).
The cabins are very basic and the walls are paper thin so you hear people next door, especially if they check in late ( as was our experience).
I guess because our previous Nordic visitor hotels were so good, that this one was a bit of a let down.
However saying this, the rooms were warm and clean and if you like the hiking hut feel, then this property will be suitable.
The breakfast was adequate but very limited in selections. Dinner was very rustic and delicious but expensive for what you got. I had their lamb which was great and also the Arctic char which was nice but very small in portion size.
I suggest eating at VIK if you want a more comprehensive menu as there seemed to be heaps of good restaurants and boutique brewery type eateries there. It’s about 30 minutes drive from this property.
To summarise, basic accomodation, good location, nice staff.

This was a really scenic place to stop for a night on our Iceland road trip. We had a room in a wooden chalet, with a bathroom shared with the guests in the other room. Nicely furnished and so quiet. We ate at the guesthouse restaurant - high quality food and great ambience. Breakfast was equally good. Our host recommended we visit the nearby canyon which was absolutely stunning. All in all, highly recommended.

This was our 4th lodging stop while driving the ring road. It was very nice and not far off the road. A bathroom was shared between 2 rooms in one cabin.
Dinner was mediocre, we were a little disappointed.
Breakfast was the same as all the other guest houses. yogurt, bread, fruits and some fish.

Beautiful structure composed of bungalows scattered on the hill. Generally each building houses two units with independent entrances. Comfortable room and equipped bathroom. The structure offers dinner menus with food from its own production. Both dinner and breakfast are served in the same room, clean and bright. Parking in front of the bungalow and free wifi.

Our cabin had a small bench on the small front porch. I didn't notice whether or not the others had them. However, we were there in June and the temperature was only mid 50's. I would think that the weather would not be conducive to sitting outside for an extended period during most of the year.
Two other observations:
1. It was a wonderful place to stay. The cabin was well equipped, and very comfortable. There was a restaurant on-site that was excellent. And all of the staff were welcoming and very friendly.
2. There is a spectacular canyon about 2 km further down the road. If you stay there, it is not to be missed!
Hi Nancy - most of them have in the summertime :-)
Hello, I'm not 100%sure as we did bring our own but I have a feeling there was one tucked in the cupboard :/ I'd take your own in case though as it would have been a very basic one
We also visited the hotel in May 2015 but as our stay was part of an overall car hire and hotel package we cannot say exactly how much this particular hotel cost. Sorry unable to assist.
"A windy location, so it will be cold on a rainy day. This is on a sheep farm, so there is a bit of bleating at odd hours. Do happy hour."Read full review
