Beautiful guesthouse in a stunning mountain location. Check in was great, we received a short tour to point out the facilities and the direction of our chalet. We were so happy with our little chalet and to hear the sheep in the surrounding mountains. Lovely restaurant onsite, dinner was great and breakfast each day was plentiful and kept stocked. We were so lucky to be able to watch the northern lights on one of the nights we stayed here.
My husband and I stayed here for part of our 10 year anniversary trip to Iceland. It was a great midway point to stay while visiting South Iceland (glacier lagoon, diamond beach). Our cottage was perfect. We had a private cottage with a private bathroom. It was warm and cozy, had very comfortable beds, and amenities for tea. We loved how secluded it felt, and being surrounded by sheep was so quaint. Breakfast and coffee in the morning was perfect. We will definitely be back if we visit the area again.
I have had to base my review on our overall experience. We arrived on a day that had terrible storms with torrential rain and high winds. We arrived 25 minutes early and told the room wasnt ready which was fine as we could wait in the car. However my partner then needed the toilet as had been unwell. He asked the female on reception if there was a toilet to be told it was several kilometres down the road. He told them he was desperate and they wouldn't allow him in the building. We then found out that there was a toilet behind reception. He ended up in the storm having to go to the toilet outdoors. For me this was extremely poor customer service and unnecessary and tainted our stay. The room itself was ok small but in very beautiful surroundings. The guy setting up breakfast was lovely and the breakfast good. However based on our whole experience I am not sure I would stay again. …
We arrived late afternoon and greeted by the owner. She checked us in then showed us around the dining ares and explained all the details for our stay. Fluent English, as is everyone it seems . Our room was a beautiful cabin with central heating, a great bathroom , plenty big enough for the two of us. Dinner was served up in the wonderful small restaraunt. A good choice of foods and a good choice of beers. Next morning we were advised to go visit the Fjadrargljufur canyon, a short drive away. Well worth the drive , a hidden gem and a great way to start the day.
Located close to the beautiful Fjadrargljufur Canyon (literally 5 minutes drive or 20 minutes walk from the property) and conveniently located 10-15 minutes drive from the nearest gas station and convenient store; this property was also surrounded by lovely scenery despite the storm when we arrived. The check-in was smooth and the staff were informative and accommodating. We got the twin room which was across the hall from what I assumed was also another twin room with the shared toilet/shower situated between 2 room entrances. Despite the toilet/shower being shared it was nice since it was only shared between the two rooms in the one cabin. This would be ideal for a group of 4 friends should they travel here. Facilities were clean and tidy and we had a restful night's sleep without interruption. Breakfast was also tasty and filling. I would definitely recommend this place!…
