We chose to stay at Hunkubakkar for 3 nights because of its proximity to Fjaðrárgljúfur and to Fagrifoss via F206.
Our cabin was clean, comfortable and cosy, and, despite the freezing nights, nice and warm. The restaurant served reasonably priced and good food. I had...More
These are little cabins scattered around the main lodge. They are all wood, inside and out with a small bathroom, very clean and comfortable. Three of us shared one cabin and there was plenty of room, with a separate alcove for the extra full sized...More
We were surprised to see 1950 type cabins but they were very nice. There were sheep grazing in the fields. We parked right next to our cabins. We ate dinner there and it was excellent. The 4 of us had lamb, baked potato and root...More
This was one of my favorite places we’ve stayed in Iceland. We’ve stayed in Airbnb, guesthouse, and hotel but this cabin experience was amazing! It was very clean surprisingly and the bed and sheets were so soft and comfortable. The view outside was even more...More

Our cabin had a small bench on the small front porch. I didn't notice whether or not the others had them. However, we were there in June and the temperature was only mid 50's. I would think that the weather would not be conducive to sitting outside for an extended period during most of the year.
Two other observations:
1. It was a wonderful place to stay. The cabin was well equipped, and very comfortable. There was a restaurant on-site that was excellent. And all of the staff were welcoming and very friendly.
2. There is a spectacular canyon about 2 km further down the road. If you stay there, it is not to be missed!
