The location is great and the hotel looks great from the outside. From the lobby looks like a first class hotel. But the room inner fittings are on the cheap side and show signs of being worn (plastic shower, chipped wood). The beds are comfortable and that is the main thing.

We stayed in two separate rooms as a family of 4 with view over the larva field. Room basic but comfortable with all amenities catered for. Restaurant evening meal was limited and when we asked why we were told problems with kitchens and unsure when the problem would be fixed. This hotel is remote and nearest town is 25k so not easy to find alternative eatery for the evening. Breakfast was good however we stayed while two large parties were staying which caused some trouble with booking table in restaurant.

Two night stay in superior room; decor in room was minimalistic but effective, very spacious and comfy. Uninterrupted views from the room over the lava fields to the mountains were amazing and we even saw the northern lights from our room! Breakfast was lovely, only slight issue was lack of food availability at dinner. Would definitely recommend a stay when travelling up the coast!

Quite fair, but basic hotel in the middle of nowhere. Nearest town is over 25 km away. The food is very basic too. No lunch being served. The breakfast was good. Probably a nice spot for viewing the northern lights, when there are no clouds..

We had called to cancel as we were behind from weather and did not want to drive at night. They refused. We found out later they were at capacity because of tour busses (people very loud). They would not seat us for dinner til 930. Even though there were empty tables. They were out of many menu items when we went to dinner and we ended up with some awful undercooked pasta. Breakfast next morning the same, loud and out of everything. The tour busses blocked the entrance so we had to maneuver our luggage around then over an ice packed parking lot. This hotel caters to the tour busses. Unless you enjoy loud atmosphere, subpar food which is very overpriced, and a staff that could care less about your comfort or safety, i highly recommended you look past this hotel.

The looks of the hotel on the outside and the inside are modern, unfortunately the rooms are somewhat outdated and basic. It's clean and comfortable enough though and the staff was friendly. The hotel restaurant is good (at least the pasta we ordered was very tasty). The hotel is in the middle of nowhere and provides a northern light service so you can be warned when the northern light is spotted. Due to the location there is no light pollution resulting in a very good view on the northern lights (that is if you're lucky there are no clouds and there is aurora activity).

Bad experience. First of all, the front desk service attitude is REALLY BAD!!!Secondly, the hotel has a restaurant, but you are not allowed to microwave your own food, and you are not allowed to heat your own food in the room. (I don't know if it is because of forcing people to consume in the restaurant). In addition, this is a movable board room with poor sound insulation and unclean sheets. It's not worth the price, and if you have the opportunity to choose another hotel, don't choose this one.

Fosshotel Nupar is located on the road to Diamond beach about a 4,5 hour drive from Reykjavik. The hotel is quite simple standard but functional and the beds are surprisingly nice! Both dinner and breakfast are good, however the main reason for staying is that you have an excellent chance of seeing the northern lights straight from your bedroom. Thoroughly recommend a stay.
