We were greeted at the reception by the host which kindly escorted us to our cabin and gave us information about the place. Service was great. The cabin has everything you need , including a gas BBQ grill.
Our family had a sleepover in two of the cottages. We had actually ordered one room and one cottage, but were upgraded to two cottages for the same price. The cottages were nice and clean and had lots of epuipments. Very nice outdoor-area with amazing view. We also went on a horse-ride with our host. The trip was very fine and The horses were kind.
When we arrived, check-in was exceptional friendly. We liked the location of this area although it's around a fifteen-minute-drive south of Egilsstadir. It was quiet. The property is very nice and very well kept. The cottage we had was very nicely decorated and very beautiful. It was clean. Despite heating in the cabin and in the bathroom it was quite cool inside. But during the night in bed it was very cozy warm.
We were in iceland for more than a week and had been in several cottages and apartments. This by far was the most cherishable cottage experience we had. Across the mountain, you would see small wooden houses standing on the greens. This is where we had our cottage. The cottage had small kitchen and bed area. It also had sitting arrangement with barbeque outside, if you wish to use. The location offers some really nice views. The owner was nice and helped us with a very quick check in. It is like that small remote house you see while driving across mountains and wonder how it might be like staying in it. I would remember this lovely place for a very long time.
I was in a 'double room' which was basically like a trailer broken into three small units. There was a comfortable bed and a dining table. The bathroom was very basic but functional. Water never really got hot for my shower so that was a bummer. Detached from the unit was a shared kitchen space that could be used. Owners were very friendly and helpful. The property also has cottages and has a campsite vibe. It was quiet and restful. A bit outside of town but close enough for easy access to restaurants, stores, etc.
