Quick check in and ample parking. We were given a quiet room at the far end. Far from breakfast/reception but we could park right beside the room. @ hot tubs for soaking which we did not get the chance to try. Perhaps if room was located in the main building we might. Too cold to brave the wind to get to the tub. Breakfast was sufficient with make your own waffles.
Do not drive past this hotel. Feeling is like visiting Grandpa and Grandma located in a Nice place a bit outside the City. Cozy first floor lounge. The restaurant has tastefull food eventhough its not like gourmet style. All in all a very Nice and Cozy place without all the fancy style and the lack of impersonality.
We wäre on a 1e day trip around Iceland and stayed 1 night there. The owner, there son and all employees were extreme friendly, friendlier than in most of the other hotels. The Son of the owner Al's sang during the dinner, so we got the feeling to be part of the family. Thank you!
What a surprise - the hotel is in a pine forest and we were personally shown around the dining area (for dinner and breakfast), the small bar with a happy hour until 7pm and then we were taken out of the hotel, up a forest path to our own log cabin in the woods - thumbs up from both of us, this was perfect. The cabin has a fridge, sink, 2 hotplates, table etc. ideal for one night and for our planned dine-in dinner tonight and no TV, a bonus. The happy hour special and the appeal of the upstairs lounge gave us no option but to abandon the plan to drink our own beer in the cabin but to avail ourselves of the happy hour specials and have a beer in the upstairs lounge, which is a terrific area with comfy chairs, in a nice sunny area looking out over the countryside. We were…
The location is a little way out of town but very quiet and comprises the main hotel building, a single storey annex (where we were placed) and cabins. Parking is safe (but looked as if spaces by the annex could get crowded in high season). There is also ample space at the front of the hotel and across the access track but that is a short walk away with luggage. The front desk and management is top notch and much valuable unrushed advice was freely given and of all our Iceland hotel stays was the best. Breakfast can be a little crowded but the choice was fine. Dined in the restaurant on one of two nights stayed and the lamb was absolutely divine (slight kitchen mix up as the vegetables arrived but not the potatoes which appeared after a reminder...!). Hot tub available and there…
