A great secluded hotel accommodation just slightly off Route 94, a few minutes drive from Egilsstaðir and very close to the start of Route 93 towards Seyðisfjörður.

Staff were very friendly, and the common facilities [WC | Breakfast Buffet | Hot Tubs] were clean and readily accessible. Additional towels and bath robes available on request. Very attractive lounge with a balcony available at all times near the reception desk.

The cabins were very cozy and compact, with sink + stove | dining table | bed | couch all in one area, then narrow bathroom off to the side.

The hotel is in a prime location for Northern Lights viewing as well. I would recommend walking past the reception area and parking to the small gravel road leading down to the secluded house, and setting up there along the road. If preferring other locations for viewing, there are numerous parking spots on Route 93 as well, which are far enough from the town where light pollution isn't much of a concern.

The proprietor lady is very charming and was helpfull in explaining and reserving a dinner table at the lake side hotel.
Rooms are simple (2 *) but spacious enough, however bathroom is rather small with shower curtain between your legs, no guest amenities. Matresses are comfortable, as well as pillows. Blackout works well.
Breakfast was also simple but OK. However cleanliness should urgently be improved: Nesquik box, Sun Up glass as well as Hazelnut Paste Glas were all (at 7 AM !) still completly dirty and glass rims sticky and full of yesterdays stuff. Brrr...
The two staff ladies prefered to either chat at the Front Desk (instead of greeting the guests and to care for breakfast guests) or they slouched on the Sofas in the hall way Waschung their handies.
Room floor was also not cleaned and still full of (bread?) crumbs.

My girlfriend and I didn’t have many expectations coming here as we were schedule to arrive in the evening and depart in the morning, but we fell in love with this place. The owners were so kind and pleasant and the room was exactly what we needed with the added bonus of an incredible floor to ceiling view of the meadow. With no one in sight, it truly felt like we had the place to ourselves. If you have time, take a soak in Vok and be warned that this pit stop might be your favorite in all of Iceland.

We got in late and they stayed up to make sure we were able to get to our cabin. It was set away so we weren't facing anyone else and had a bunch of flowers surrounding us. It is a smaller space but it has a mini kitchenette where you could make coffee in the morning. The bathroom is also not the largest but it was not uncomfortable. It was very clean and cute!
Also during breakfast, the gentleman that is one of the head staff, fed his baby ducks outside the windows of the breakfast area which was very cute.
We would defiantly book again.

We stayed one night in one of the cottages. The view was beautiful, the cabin was surrounded by trees and the typical autumn landscape. The lady who greeted us made us feel welcome (it was the best welcome of our entire trip). The cabin was warm, the beds comfortable, plugs near the bed, with wifi, a small table and two chairs. There was also a terrace in front that we couldn't use because it was too cold. We were able to park the car right in front of the cabin.
It is located 2 km from the center of Egilsstadir, with proximity (by car) to supermarkets, gas stations and restaurants.
The only room for improvement I would mention is the bathroom; the walls had some stains and woodwork that looked like they were unfinished; It was clean, but in terms of decoration it was nothing like the room.
I would definitely stay at this place again.

There were five of us there for two nights (April 9-11, 2024) and we had two cabins. The day before we arrived, we received an email saying that we might be moved to the main building because the cabins were inaccessible due to the snow. Luckily, the snow plow had been there in the morning and cleared the way. We were told all of this when we arrived by the boss, who is a very nice and funny woman. Everyone who worked there was very nice and helpful.
In each cabin there was a small kitchen (stove with 2 burners, sink, refrigerator). The bathroom was a narrow room - we couldn't walk past each other. The water smells and tastes very much of sulfur (that's how it is in the area). We boiled it and then the sulfur taste was gone (no idea why). There was also a table at "normal" height and two chairs in the cabin, so we didn't have to sit on the bed when eating.
The cabins were nice and warm inside despite the cold outside temperatures.
For breakfast we had to go to the main building, where there are two hot tubs that everyone can use (we didn't try them). The breakfast room is rather small and cramped. The breakfast is great, you can even make fresh waffles.

The room was nice, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was basic but good. The restaurant was closed, but the grounds were lovely. The first room was cold, so they immediately moved us to a new room with a radiator. We enjoyed our stay.

Completely isolated hotel in the countryside.
Main building + some bungalows. Spacious room on the 1st floor without elevator.
Equipment: coffee maker, but no air conditioning, no safe, no balcony, no TV. Good wifi.
Dinner (very good) in a nice little dining room, served by a young Spanish waiter who speaks French. Aperitif: bread + butter. Starter: mushroom soup. Dish: cod + vegetables + p. earth. Dessert: chocolate mousse. Self-service coffee or tea.
Average self-catering breakfast: coffee in a thermos, no hot chocolate, good croissants, salty options not very varied.

It was a clean place. The staff were very nice. Breakfast was good. Our room was an independent room [not in the main building] with adjacent parking. However, the room was small. Two beds were put together and we cannot open the bathroom door fully. Bathroom is small and a heavy person would find it difficult to have bath there.

Rustic. Farm house has undergone various renovations and additions, and the dusty access road & gravel parking is still under construction. Cottages have limited grass parking and no TV, bed is directly under the opening windows, bathroom is long & thin with no towel racks. Breakfast food counter is congested, limited/cozy dining area overlooks duck pond and chicken coop.

Does the hotel offer a wake up call for the northern lights?

Hello. Thank you for your question. Some of the cottages have have kitchen facilities but Annex doesn't. You can park next to the cottages and come close to the annex to unload the luggage but then park somewhere in the front. I hope this helped.
