We know the area quite well and stayed here last in 2003, it was good then it is better now. The neighbouring hotel has now been totally redeveloped to provide 12 truly excellent, modern and comfortable large rooms with seating area, walk in shower with separate WC, and sizable dressing area. This hotel is currently being extended and I have only eaten here. However it looks terrific and if the rooms are as good as the food it will make a fabulous place to stay. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. The dining areas are great and the view from the back is perfect.

Altenahr has great hiking trails, with amazing views, castle ruins, and great wine. Its very tranquil and refreshing. This region really comes alive in October during wine fest...masses of people...

We stayed with friends from England for a weekend here. The rooms are nice, But the food and wine were outstanding. Our friend David had rumsteak and he said it was the best he ever had. Everything else we had was lovely. The staff friendly and our walking tour was lovely as well. The only thing I did not like...
