Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge is a walk through facility is open at 9:00 AM every day of the year (except Christmas Day). We now have twenty-seven natural habitat areas, where our 6 black bears and many of our cats can run and play on the grass and under the trees; this is our ultimate goal for all of our Big Cats. All of our cats are beautiful, special and loved very much. Each one has his/her own story to tell and you are sure to find a favorite or two among them. Our prices: Adults - $15.00. Children 4-12, seniors 65 and over, and veterans - $10.00. Children 3 and under admitted free of charge. Our group rates are: Bus Drivers and Guides are always free. Groups of 6-10 / $1.00 off each admission; groups of 11-20 / $2.00 off each admission; groups 21-30 / $3.00 off each admission; groups over 30 / $4.00 off each admission. Your admission is good for all day, and includes a walking tour of our newly opened natural habitat areas as well as a self-guided tour of the cats in our main compound. The time you spend in the main compound can vary from 10 minutes to over an hour, depending upon how much time you spend in front of one cage or another. The walking tour of the habitat areas is about a 30 minute guided tour and they are scheduled every hour on the hour from 11:00 a.m. - 3 p.m. The self-guided portion is all walking, but there are benches throughout to rest. We do have a wheel chair to borrow if needed. The guided tour is also walking, unless special assistance is needed and we can accommodate people with a riding tour on our cart (which carries five maximum). For large groups we will be happy to put one of our staff on your bus to give you a guided tour of the large habitat areas upon special request. Most of our staff are Biologists or Zoologists that come from all over the world to learn how to work with the Big Cats. Our tree house bungalow rents for $150/night for two, $15.00 extra for each additional person 5 or older. It sleeps two on a "clicker sofa" downstairs, and it has two twin beds tucked under the eaves in the loft. Generally, it is comfortable for 2 adults and 2 children. Although small, it also has full kitchen facilities, a wrap-around deck and is quiet and secluded. The cats are located only a few yards away in some of the larger enclosures. Children under 5 years old are not allowed in Tree House due to TCWR's safety policy. Our two Bed & Big Cat suites can accommodate up to four people, with a queen size bed and fold-down clicker couch. Price is$150.00/night for two, $15.00 extra for each additional person 3 or older. Babies are welcome at no additional charge. Both rooms have cats right outside the window, and are open year-round. The Safari Guest Lodge (adults only) is now taking reservations to complete your adventure at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. Each Room is designed for 2 adults and rents for $150.00 per night. Overlooking the sprawling Eureka Springs Valley, with beautiful sunrises and magnificent sunsets and the caroling of the Big Cats. There are five unique cabins. Rent one or all five units if available. They are perfect to accommodate small groups if you choose to spend time with friends, family, small business retreats, workshops and wedding parties. Each room has an exceptional personality, along with snugly spa robes, luxurious bedding and linens, coffees and coffee pots, continental breakfast, color TV / DVD player, refrigerators and microwaves and clock radios. For rainy days or after hours, the rooms also have their own collection of favorite games and books. Cast iron fireplaces and air conditioning keeps you comfortable during the changing seasons too. Each room is also furnished with African Drums for those who care to start a drumming! Along with the spacious hot tub, the units share a 40' Octagonal Deck, complete with a charming covered Gazebo and Fire Pit. Tables and chairs surround the area for comfortable relaxing or light dining. These units are intended for adults only due to TCWR's safety policy. The price of your overnight visit includes unlimited access to our main compound during daylight hours for the length of your stay. We also have a small RV Park that can accommodate up to 7 recreational vehicles. Rates are $25.00/night plus regular admission to the Refuge on a daily basis. Or, a Family Membership may be purchased for $50.00, allowing unlimited visits to the Refuge throughout the year.

We booked the Okavango Suite for one night on our vacation through Arkansas and we had a fantastic time.

Check-in/Check-out: We arrived late (after the place had closed) and everything worked out fine. We had already received the gate code and found our keys and check in packet easily. We then drove down to our suite and realized that no one was staying in the other suites so we had the place to ourselves! Check out was super simple as we just had to drop off keys at the gift shop.

Room: So cute. Very clean. We loved all the information on the refuge and nearby area including reading the stories about all the cats. The only part we weren't a fan of was the curtain for a bathroom door, but not a big deal. It was fine for only a night and the rest of the room makes up for it. It was a cold night and the heater was perfect for keeping us nice and cozy.

Property: The deck off the back is very nice and while we didn't use the outdoor fireplace or the hot tub but it was nice to have the option to use these.

Breakfast: Oatmeal, fruit cups, and muffins are provided in the fridge. Obviously not a standard continental breakfast at a hotel, but what they provided was perfectly fine for our one night. We enjoyed it along with the tea and coffee.

Price: While this is more expensive then other stay options in the area, it does include free entry into the refuge which immediately offsets a good portion of the premium. Additionally, you get early access into the refuge which makes it seem like you have the place to yourself. And last, it's a non profit so all proceeds are going to a really good cause in providing these amazing cats with a comfortable home as well as providing options for future rescues.

Overall: Great place. And we were so happy we stayed here. We were hesitant at first, but we were so glad we took a chance on this place as we felt so good about supporting the cats. I know there is a separate page for the actual refuge, but the place is amazing. The cats seem happy and it's so nice to hear their success stories. We'd highly recommend a stay here.

My husband and I decided to do an overnight stay in the Kilimanjaro Suite. Let me just say, this was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. I was expecting something more rustic and rough but the room was impeccable. Not only was it spotless but the lion themed decor was flawlessly accented with bits of African artwork in lovely dark colors. It was warm, inviting, and felt luxurious. We enjoyed using the jacuzzi and we had the most fun just sitting on our private deck taking in the sounds of nature and the stunning views of the Ozark mountains. It did rain quite a lot during our stay so we didn't hear any of the animals from our suite but the room was beautiful and so relaxing that we didn't even care. We got to see plenty of big cats on our included tour the next day. This place really imitates the feel of being on safari! It was secluded and really the perfect spot for a romantic getaway. We defintiley plan to return in the future!

I booked the Serengeti suite for 3 nights and loved everything about our stay. First, the lodging....the attention to detail was superb. I would rate the suite 5 star rustic. If you are looking for 5 star crystal stemware, granite counter tops, and a marble shower, Turpentine isn't the place for you. But if you want 5 star lodging that feels like you've escaped on an African Safari, Turpentine Creek is your place. They have thought of everything from mini fridge, microwave, liquid creamer, coffee, juice boxes, fruit cups, muffins, robes, LED lantern, extra blanket, bathroom spray, bug spray, wildlife literature, fan, heater, extra pillows, etc. The lodge ceiling and exterior are covered in canvas to give it the true safari tent feel.
Second the Wildlife Refuge....being a guest at the lodge gives you extra time to observe the animals. Having early and late access through the side guest gate is convenient and totally worth the stay. We made it a point to daily observe the 4pm feeding/training. This refuge is a no animal contact facility and it is truly fascinating to see how well the animals are cared for even though direct human physical contact is not allowed.
Everyone from lodging, gift shop, education program, trainers, and maintenance, made us feel welcomed. I can't wait to bring my grandkids on my next stay.

Absolutely amazing. Ethical. Professional. Caring! The staff, from the head staff, caretakers, interns and people in the gift shop were very polite, knowledgeable, respectful and treated us like a king and Queen. And, in my opinion, most important, the animals have the best quality of life here. We took the " behind the scenes tour" the cost is extra, but TCWR, puts the money all for the benefit of the animals. The staff is screened to make sure that they are the best fit for the animals and in return the staff are treated very well. The planning, accountability, organization is absolutely outstanding. These majestic animals learn to trust the staff, I. The animals time. I highly recommend supporting this place!! We stayed in the Siberian suite. Definately worth the extra money AND still less than surrounding lodges/ hotels and we were next to 2 amazing tigers ( they were in secure enclosures) and we heard lions caroling ( roaring) many times. This is a True Sanctuary. They do not breed, sell, buy, trade, or allow any hands on contact. Treat yourself and feel good about spending your money, oh, a daily visit is only $32.00 We flew in from Florida.

I found this almost by accident and am very glad that I did. We stayed one night in the Kilimanjaro Suite at the Zulu Lodge. It is attractively decorated in safari decor with a comfortable bed and outdoor seating seating on the balcony in back and the deck (with firepit and hot tub) in the front. Included with your stay you may take the tram tour more than once. Besure to reserve your tour when you make your reservation. They are very careful about Covid because the big cats are susceptible to getting it, also. The lodging rooms are a good way for the Wildlife Refuge to receive income to support caring for the cats - certainly a very worthy cause.
From our suite we could hear the cats talking in the morning. There is one lodging unit, the Siberian Suite, that is located right up against one of the cat habitats and has a window looking into the habitat. If I had known about it I would have tried to book that suite. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to be able to book it!

Marilyn W thank you so much for that wonderful review. Thank you as well for spreading the message about how we are non-profit so our lodging and anything purchased online or on our gift shop goes directly back to the cats. We stayed in the tree house and the grand girls loved every moment. It is very clean and the loft is perfect for two children. They provided decoration for celebrating a birthday and the snacks and light breakfast were provided as well. The fridge was stocked with fruit, juice, water, muffins, and flavored oatmeal and coffee and tea were provided as well. Please note that admission into the refuge and the tour are included in the treehouse booking price, so it makes it a great deal. Please note, the treehouse is small, which we knew. We did not know that my 6' 5 husband would not be able to fit in the bathroom or shut the bathroom door. There is a public restroom nearby though. The treehouse is feet away from a tiger enclosure and it was awesome to watch them eat at 7:00 a.m. each morning. Please take the tour so you can hear all the wonderful things they do to make the animals comfortable, healthy, and safe.

We stayed in the Treehouse, which is right next to the containment area for two of the tigers. The Treehouse is an A-frame house with a full-sized bed on the ground floor and two small beds on the second floor, which is accessed via an attic ladder from the first floor ceiling. We opened all of the windows so we could hear the lions and tigers making their caroling and chuffing noises. The tigers were quite vocal in the early morning. 😛 Tours of the sanctuary are included in the cost of the room, so take advantage of that. They have a 45 minute tour on a tram that shows the various animals and tells their rescue stories and information about the various personalities and quirks of each. This is a wonderful place for people of all ages. The attached pictures aren’t the greatest because the sanctuary adheres to the strictest safety measures for the animals’ and visitors’ safety. There are two fences separating the animals from the public.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay in the Bengal Suite. The bed couldn't possibly have been more comfortable. Really nice ductless air conditioner that kept it frigid inside. A good sized "mini" fridge. 1/4 size or so of a standard fridge and cooled far better than expected. I ended up freezing our lettuce ;) The fridge was already stocked with complimentary cold bottled water, a variety of juice boxes, fruit cups, half and half and a variety of huge Otis Spunkmeyer muffins :) The largest selection of teas I've ever seen in a rental and some really great coffee (regular and decaf, of course.... Because these guys literally forget NOTHING lol :)
Hot water worked well. Separate living/bedroom areas were nice.
There was a pack n play for our son already set up in the room upon arrival. Bedding already on it and all.

Every staff member we encountered knew all about each animal and were very attentive to any needs. Very friendly and knowledgeable folks. We added the Purrrrfect boy package for our son. It did not disappoint and was well worth the cost. The stuffed lion and the picture frame are really great quality and really nice souvenirs for our baby.

There were lions and a couple of park benches to sit on maybe 25ft from the front porch. Nice metal table and chairs on the porch to sit and watch from.
Its about 25mins to the nearest walmart in berryville so know that going in :)
There is a dollar general right in town about 6 miles up the highway. Really great location imo. Out of the way but close by.
We highly recommend staying at Turpentine Creek the next time you're in Eureka Springs :)

(The lioness pic was taken while sitting 25 or so ft from our porch :)

Let me start by saying we are 'Super 8' people, so the cost of the suite was really more than I am used to paying for a bed. However, I don't regret a single penny. Sitting on the patio, listening to the lions caroling is an experience everyone should have. We had a five year old with us, and she is still talking about all the different cats. Would definitely stay again.

This was our first time to stay on the Turpentine Creek property, however the third time to visit the property. We were presently surprised as to the Adult only surfari cabin area. This area is at the rear of the property, however close enough to hear the animals in the evening and early morning. There are 5 cabins in a semicircle area with a community hot tub and fire pit. This was prefect for my husband and I with our friends to have a nice dinner in Eureka Springs and then to finish the evening by relaxing by the fire pit and in the hot tub listening to the animals.

From the Bengal porch you see Flip our Coati, Fergy a liger & Pharoah a lion.. OR Savannah a lioness, then to the left of the rooms is Montana and Poncho, two orange tigers.

It would be an amazing adventure for your 9 yo. Rooms run $150/night based on double occupancy, $20 per person per night extra. Admission into the refuge is included in the cost of your lodging with guided walking tours daily, every hour on the hour from 10am-4pm. If you didn't want to walk, we offer guided trolley tours that run every hour on the half hour, 10:30-3:30. The refuge is open from 9am-6pm and you're free to walk the property at your leisure. A light complimentary breakfast is kept in your refrigerator for the mornings you're with us. We don't have any dining facility on site so you'd need to go into Eureka Springs (7 miles from the refuge) for lunch/dinner. We currently do not have Wi-Fi on site, just so you're aware. Our Siberian and Bengal suites sleep 4 comfortably and family friendly for kids of all ages. Our Tree House sleeps up to 4 but children must be 5 yo to stay. The "safari" promotion would not work for you simply because it's for our Safari Lodges that are adult only, 18+yo, due to liability reasons with the hot tub. Please let us know if we can help book your stay! We look forward to seeing you!
