I do not like to write a less than favorable review, especially for a business that I like and have visited a few times. Wanderoo has so much potential and on previous stays I was told they’re working on it. However, the price we paid for a stay July 8-11, 2021 would suggest the rooms have not been updated. The room looked the same as it did two years ago though, if not worse.
The negatives. The pool is again closed or still closed -it wasn’t clear if it’s ever actually been made available for guests. Please stop promoting this amenity if it’s not available.
We were on a lower floor. The noise from the guests in the room above made it difficult to sleep. If sensitive to noise, request a room on the top floor.
I respect that renovations take time and money but the condition of some aspects of the room is unacceptable. Our bathroom door was barely functional, literally falling apart and a significant struggle to even open and close. Rooms like this should not be rented until repairs are made, or at the least, these issues should be communicated upfront and the rate should reflect the condition of the room.
The positive. The setting is fun and welcoming. The bar and food onsite are good.

The Wanderoo Lodge is a quaint throwback to the 50s & 60s vibe. Great location for exploring Eureka Springs. From reading reviews about the Wonderoo, I was impressed that they were being updated and refreshed, however, we did not get one of those rooms. The room was showing its years and was in need of a redo, although it was clean and about what I expected for the price. The bed was a Vortex 3000 model, as soon as you laid down, you were sucked into the middle unless you held on tight to the edge. We were greeted each morning by the sunlight shining thru the gaps in the door along with cold air. The small faux fireplace did however provide ample heat and ambiance, it was much appreciated. Since our stay was during the week of Thanksgiving, I didn't expect much service and I wasn't surprised. I'm not slamming the establishment, in fact it was exactly what I expected for a bargain price. Clean bathroom, clean linens just needing updates on everything else. Although we heard great things about the bar and restaurant, we were hesitant to check it out due to large crowds and no masks or social distancing. It's a shame because it looked like a cool place with live music and good food. I would stay again, if nothing else was available or if I was on a budget weekend for a bike ride.

I wasn’t really sure how to rate this stay honestly. There were some really cool aspects, like the theme, the proximity to downtown, the Gravel Bar, and the possibility of a pool.

There’s still a lot of room for renovation and improvements, and I’m sure a lot is due to all the covid setbacks. I think in 6 months or so this place will be super cool.

But then there were not a cool things. We went because we wanted to have a working vacation. But the WiFi didn’t reach our room. Something everyone who worked there was aware of. Like yea you’re just screwed. So we tried to work a lot in the lodge/ Gravel Bar. But that became problematic for a number of reasons so that was a huge bummer for our visit.

The room itself was eh. The chair was obviously stained, the towels had been in there so long they had rust on them, and the paint in the bathroom is chipping. The bed was not comfortable, the pool was not swimmable, and the parking was limited.

All that being said I’d recommend this place after a lot of time has passed. I think they have a good thing going and I hope it’ll improve.

A family member was getting married in Eureka Springs and a bunch of decided not to go with the standard hotel the bride and groom recommended, but wanted more character. We certain got that. We had a mixture of cabin and rooms and none of them I would recommend. One room had water running down the wall in the bedroom from the shower. Some of the rooms had back doors to the pool are but they wouldn’t open. The cabins have been remodel but they were poorly done - just slapped lipstick on the pig. They foundation needed to be corrected as there was a very noticeable slope. The shower faucet was put on I correctly and water was getting behind it and into the wall. The air conditioning window unit blew air but never got cold. At least there was a ceiling fan. There were no closets in the rooms, just a coat rack my particular one was shorter than I am and my clothing was dragging all over the floor. There was no towel rack in the bathroom so I’m glad they changed out the towels daily. Of course that was all the housekeeping that was done. The restaurant wanted to charge our group $100 deposit that would NOT go towards our food so we didn’t eat there. People I met there that did try the food were not impressed. About half the staff was great and half surly. The office was not open on Labor Day for us to check out so that was strange. I let something in the room and called the same day I left but because the office wasn’t open I had to leave a message. I never got a return call so I tried again later and reach someone who had to have someone else call me. They did a couple days later and had to leave me a message. I called back same day and had to leave another message for him. I gave all the information asked for and said to call me again if they needed anything else. No call back. After a couple weeks I finally got the manager, Skylar, who took my information again and I did finally receive my missed item. While she was great and the towels were super soft overall it was a big disappointment.

Their website went on and on about the pool. We check in, pool is permanently closed. At check in we were assured once we learned the pool was closed if we could find somewhere else to stay with a pool we would get full refund. This was from a girl at front desk. The OWNER refused to give back one night of money, literally had keys to the room for 30-40 minutes. In the short time I was present in room, I would describe it as a Pig wearing lipstick, is still a pig. Bed felt like a rock, parkin is a nightmare, and overall would never recommend due to the very unprofessional owner. Also for the price there are many better values in town!! There are so many other places to stay that treat your right!! Check out either Best Western in town, very nice, helpful and pleasant workers at both of these hotels.

Definitely not a nice motel at all. First off be careful if you are booking a ground floor room. We did and we had to go down stairs to the back side of the motel. When inquiring on it at check in, if we wanted a 'true' ground floor room it would be $20 extra. I don't understand a ground floor room having a flight of stairs? Check otherwise went smooth and desk clerk Skyelar was very nice and helpful. The room is very outdated and musty smelling. We were there end of December and the heat would not work. No one works 24/7. we sent an email asking for maintenance and they informed us the next morning that they switched software and that was an inaccurate email. So we slept in our clothes, with other clothes on top of us to keep warm. Their answer the next day was.."it was warm when we walked in the warm" Well it was 11am by then and we had showered and blew dry our hair. Both the bathroom sink and bathtub would not drain properly. They said they pulled a bottle cap out of bathtub which caused the drainage issue. They never responded to the issue of the sink. So much cosmetic work needs done to the rooms. Flooring not completed in the bathroom. Old rusty Kleenex holder on the wall. Holes where the shower curtain rod had been moved(takes a quick second to caulk the holes and remove the old kleenex holder). No plug-ins in the bathrooms. Blew dry hair over the table in the motel room. The maintenance room door was busted and holes in it. You have to walk by it to go up the stairs. Cob webs in corner of bathroom,. We killed a couple of spiders. One bed sloped towards the head. We could not wait to get out of there!. We have been in the hotel/hospitality business and this room needed so much work! And much of it would take a few minutes and very little money. Cleaning a room is a no brainer. The bar and restaurant were very nice! The atmosphere with the outside fire pit and set back in the trees seemed so nice..until we got to our room. We wont ever stay there again.

I noticed a few negative reviews so I was a bit concerned with booking this motel. However, it is good for the traveler to be aware that The Wanderoo Lodge is under new ownership and much improved! We booked a King Wanderoo room and the bed was very comfortable, the room was completely updated, super cute and clean with artistic touches. Keep in mind, this is a historic spot and the motel rooms were built in the 50's so enjoy the retro aspects. The bar and restaurant are so awesome. Live music both nights we were there and we also enjoyed sitting by the fire outside chatting with other guests. There is a real community feel to this place. Additionally, the staff are very friendly. I spoke with a staff member who told me how happy she is to be working there and how wonderful the new owners are. There is a new chef and they are looking forward to adding items to their menu. It is also an easy walk down to historic Eureka springs from this location. The walk back is straight up the hill but it's Eureka Springs so enjoy the views and the cute little houses on your climb!

We were looking for a getaway spot to have a BREAK from a kitchen re-do. The Wanderoo Lodge was the best choice ever !!! It was "mustang" weekend, complete with parade and mustangs to see everywhere we went. An older, beetnik crowd was in the majority of other Lodge guests. There is live music on the patio, open fire pit to gather around and chat/people watch, a wonderful bar with daily specials. Gay friendly and there was a pride parade this weekend.

Bedrooms are in the midst of re-model, and very spacious and include a patio area to sip coffee, and relax. Starting this weekend, the lodge offers rental of kayaks, and standup paddle boards. There is trolley spot very close that takes you anywhere in Eureka Springs for $6/day. Breakfast eatery, Myrtle Mae's, is across the street. Rodd was a great go-to person, night manager, etc.

Website showed cabins NOT motel, so classic "bait and switch". Pros: Air conditioner worked and there was USB port for charging devices. Cons: No iron or board, no full length mirror (1 small mirror above bathroom sink), bedside lights didn't work, plugged in hair dryer and tripped the breaker, no phone to call front desk, no clock, we used both beds; only 1 was made and the other was left unmade (not to mention the beds are hard), no place to put luggage except on floor, pool was cloudy and upon checkout there was no one at front desk, just a sign stating to leave the key(s). $130/night is way too much for this place.

I've read over some of these other reviews, and I'm wondering if we stayed at the same place???
This is not a Five Star Hotel. This is the Wanderoo Lodge. It's transitioning gradually. The owners are constantly working to upgrade all of the rooms. Old or updated, they're always clean.
Our rooms have always been spotless. This is why we always make a point to tip housekeeping. They do a really good job. They work hard at it.
We've stayed here twice now this year, for two long weekends, one of which was Thanksgiving weekend.
It was phenomenal!
Every single person who works there went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and at home.
We love the Gravel Bar. The drinks flow freely and we love the food menu. Nothing heavy or too fancy, but always worth the money spent.
This is pretty much a hip place and if you're not at least young at heart, you probably won't like it.
There is always music playing, either over the speakers in the bar or LIVE music. And yes the live music is always loud, we rarely heard it from our room.
If you're looking for a no frills, really clean, good value for your money, you'd love this place.
Look at the clientel. They range from young adults to more mature folks like us, but they're all smiling and having a good time.
And, there is no us or them attitude here. Everyone is welcomed.
Yes, there are kids running around, and they're smiling too.
If, and it's a big IF, I had any complaint, it would be parking. If you're staying at the lodge, you'd best be parked before evening. A good number of locals come for the live music and they park where ever they can find a spot. But doesn't it put a smile on your face to see a relatively new Small Business doing so well?
Bottom line, we love this place and you will too, if you go in with the right expectations.
Stuffy folks expecting a 5 star experience will not like this place. These are really good, down to earth folks and the Wandroo Lodge is a great place to simply be......
