Welcome to Casa Palopó. Perched above spectacular Lake Atitlan with a view of three volcanoes and located in the Guatemalan Highlands, Casa Palopó offers two distinct brands of romantic relaxation for the sophisticated traveler. Choose from the charming and colorful accommodations in the main building, which feature seven spacious rooms decorated with contemporary and indigenous artwork or a more modern outtake in the private villa located above the main building with a private pool, jacuzzi, living room and kitchen. In the main building relax in front of the fireplace in our hotel living room or enjoy a gourmet meal in 6.8 Palopo restaurant, with elegantly set tables in an intimate cluster. On the glassed terrace, additional tables spread along the wide veranda, 6.8 Palopó is the place to catch an uninterrupted view of spectacular sunsets.

This property has been on my list of places to visit for several years and I had such high expectations...especially considering the cost of the rooms.
From the moment we arrived though, we were disappointed. There was no electricity at all and hadn’t been any for 3 days. Natura

Very nice decorated hotel with a perfect view on the lake. Absolutely stylish with good service. Good kitchen, perfect breakfast. Dont forget to go 150 steps uphill to the infinitypool and find absolute quietness with the best view on the lake.

This is the place to come for a special meal...on the terrace...overlooking beautiful Lake Atitlan. The wait staff is excellent, there is a good wine list, and the menu covers all the usual items. They are going for depth rather than breadth with the menu. The facilities are b

Casa Palopo is beautiful, perched on the cliffs of Lake Atitlán with magnificent views of the lake and surrounding volcanos. We needed a stiff drink after the mammoth car journey from Antigua to reach the lake, but it is well worth the journey. Our room was a steep climb up from

How fat is The international airpoirt from there?
How far or how long will it take? Is that your question?....You will have to take a shuttle or private car from the airport to Panajachel, which will take you about 3 hours without traffic and a fast driver, or 5 1/2 hours with traffic and a slow driver. Chimaltenango is where it gets really slow! If you take a shuttle, once you get to Panajachel, you will then have to get to Santa Catarina, which is about 20 minutes away by taxi, but there are few taxis in Pana. If you have a private car, then obviously your car can take you straight there from the airport. I know this, because I lived in Pana for about a year, and just returned to the States.

Can you eat at the restaurant if you are not staying there? If so, do we need reservations, and how does one get there? We are staying at Laguna Lodge. Thank you.
We had private tours and transportation. Call the Concierge for reservations in advance because it is not big and well attended. They can arrange transportation as well. I hope this helps!

Can you swim in the lake? If so, is there a dock or beach area associated with the hotel?
Got cut off somehow. The hotel is high (155 steps) on the hillside. There is a dock at which we met a boat to visit a couple of villages around the lake. Beautiful pool, maybe 20 yards long. I was told the lake has some contaminants but maybe not enough to hurt you.
