We chose this hotel on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews. The owners, Rolph and Lise are lovely and very helpful. The location, 17km north of San Isidro is remote enough to allow for lots of wildlife and close enough to San Isidro that you can pop down for dinner etc. They have 5 different cabinas, some of which have kitchenettes...

Thank you for your great review. however considering that the sound problem is now fixed, was it totally necessary to mention it, weighing the other wonderful things here.. AND, furthermore, was it not mentioned that the noise, really, started at 5AM, so how was that a hellish night. Again thank you. We aim to please all our guests. Good review.

I made a daytrip to the lodge for watching the birds. It was only 5 dollars for a whole day. It enjoyed the whole morning. The German couple feeds the birds every day and it attracts so many beautiful birds. Lots of hummingbirds in the garden on the flowers and on the feeder. And the cup of coffee was free....

Bosque del Tolomunca is an undiscovered gem in Birder's paradise. The accommodations are excellently situated amongst the woods north of San Isidro. while not Birders ourselves, we can see the attraction that draws Birders to stay. Rolph and XXXX are excellent hosts having over 19 years of experience in their location.

This place is so rich in wildlife, people come for the birds but we came for the reptiles. The owners of this place are lovely and so accommodating, they are so nice and friendly. The rooms are comfy and the bathrooms are clean. They cook you breakfast and it's very reasonably priced, there's also a restaurant down the road for...

The ex-Canadians that own this place are very friendly and helpful. The gardens they have built around the immaculate cabins are awesome. There are numerous bird feeders throughout the property and the yard is teeming with birds, including many species of hummingbird. We had a very comfortable stay for a good price. The breakfast (extra) was enjoyable as well. We...

No such thing as an EX-Canadian. What is wrong with this comment. Have not denounced my patriotism to Canada. Born in Canada, still file Income tax .

Rolf and Lise immediately made us feel welcome. The rooms are beautifully hand crafted, and the grounds are well designed, both for privacy and birdwatching. The breakfast was your choice of bacon and eggs (from her hens) or cereal and fresh fruit. They are all served with her delicious fresh baked bread and homemade marmalades. Coffee was delicious too. The...

We took friends up for a day of hiking and birding. The value for the access is exceptional. Lise and Rolf made our friends feel like family. This is always our first choice to show off the simple beauty of Costa Rica when friends visit. Trails are easy and even though we are not very good birders we saw lots...

Comfortable cabin-style rooms with pool and views. Gardens are lovely. Good trails on the property with feeders to attract all the local birds. Breakfasts are fine. There is a local restaurant just down the road for dinner or lunch. We were lucky enough to have dinner one night at Bosque. If possible, I highly recommend it. There were three dogs...

Thank you for your kind review. Just a little comment regarding the dogs. When we have birders we try to keep them indoors as much as possible, so they do not disturb the birding.

I've been blessed to visit many lodges throughout Costa Rica over the past 10 years and I would have to say that Rolf and Lise have created my new favorite place in Bosque del Tolomuco. Nestled in the hills above San Isidro, BdT has it all- great views, comfortable lodging, fantastic birding and most of all exemplary hospitality. From the...

We visited this great site 5 years ago and enjoyed the amenities including the fine hospitality and great bird-watching. Great gardens full of flowers, good comfortable setting with kitchen in our room and lots of opportunities to view and photograph birds. Went back about 10 days ago and they have only improved the setting. A great deal of hard work...
