We took friends up for a day of hiking and birding. The value for the access is exceptional. Lise and Rolf made our friends feel like family. This is always our first choice to show off the simple beauty of Costa Rica when friends visit. Trails are easy and even though we are not very good birders we saw lots...

Comfortable cabin-style rooms with pool and views. Gardens are lovely. Good trails on the property with feeders to attract all the local birds. Breakfasts are fine. There is a local restaurant just down the road for dinner or lunch. We were lucky enough to have dinner one night at Bosque. If possible, I highly recommend it. There were three dogs...

Thank you for your kind review. Just a little comment regarding the dogs. When we have birders we try to keep them indoors as much as possible, so they do not disturb the birding.

I've been blessed to visit many lodges throughout Costa Rica over the past 10 years and I would have to say that Rolf and Lise have created my new favorite place in Bosque del Tolomuco. Nestled in the hills above San Isidro, BdT has it all- great views, comfortable lodging, fantastic birding and most of all exemplary hospitality. From the...

We visited this great site 5 years ago and enjoyed the amenities including the fine hospitality and great bird-watching. Great gardens full of flowers, good comfortable setting with kitchen in our room and lots of opportunities to view and photograph birds. Went back about 10 days ago and they have only improved the setting. A great deal of hard work...

Rolf and Lise opened there doors to not only ourselves but also to our two large hairy Bernese Mountain Dogs. We all enjoyed the beautiful gardens, lovely trails,...

What a lovely setting and equally lovely hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Lise and Rolf, who made us feel very much at home. The grounds are beautiful, and there are great walking trails throughout the property. Beautiful, colorful birds come to their bird feeders to entertain you, including lots of hummingbirds. The cabins are cozy and comfortable. We...

I had the pleasure of staying at Bosque del Tolomuco, which is just outside San Isidro de General. It sits at 5,000+ feet on a beautiful mountain and boasts that there are 256 different bird species on the property that can be seen from there walking trails. The owners, Rolf and LIse, are very friendly Canadians and will ensure that...

What a beautiful place! Lise and Rolf are very welcoming. We stayed two nights and ensured we were up early both mornings to watch the sun rise over Chirrpa Mtn. The trails are wonderful but take your time and remember you are over 1700 m above sea level. We stayed in the Parakeet Cabin and made out own breakfast and...

I have visited Bosque del Tolomuco a handful of times. Rolf and Lise are amazing hosts and offer a delicious breakfast. The cabins are warm and cozy and the views are unbelievable. Lise has lots of information to share about Costa Rica and makes you feel safe and at home. I can't wait to go back!
