Talari Mountain Lodge was the last of six places we stayed during a month long tour of Costa Rica. Unfortunately it did not live up to our expectations based upon the previous five places we stayed. The other places included a biological field station, two private vacation rentals and two other eco-lodges. While the location and birding were great, the...

Beautiful grounds with beautiful birds and flowers. The host is very welcoming. Fresh fruit in the morning is delicious. This is not a luxury lodge. No TV, AC, room service etc. It is great if you are looking for some quiet close to Chirripo and Bahia Ballena.

Nice family owned logde on large natural quiet estate next to the El General river where plenty of tropical birds can be seen. Great food and very kind staf. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, hammock hut and sheltered tenniscourt are all present. Our rooms was ok and clean, with a nice hot shower.

We had read this Lodge was a birding destination. Was it ever. We arrived with no reservations but owner Carlos fixed us up right away. We also wanted a bird guide for the next morning although it was late in the afternoon when we decided. Carlos called several guides and was finally able to make arrangements for Giovanni to be...

We visited Talari on a trip to visit the birding spots around San Isidro and towards Chirripo. The lodge is surprisingly not far out of town and is at a mid level ( 800 meters) so days are warm and nights pleasant. A large open dining area with free WiFI is central to your visit. Meals and great birding can...

It is a 3.5 hour beautiful drive up the ever winding Talamanca Mountains to Talari Mountain Lodge. It poured rain most of the way and we drove in and out of eco systems and we really quite thrilled with the trip. We arrived and were shown a map to our room and we were the only people there for that...

We went back to Talari because we love the area and the family who runs the lodge. The setting is lovely with lovely grounds to walk in, birds right outside your door, and a lovely pool. Rooms are very basic with ceiling fans, but no AC. Food is really excellent. The owners, Carlos and Erica are great and very accommodating....

The Lodge and grounds themselves are good for birding. Lots to see. The room was nice but difficult to cool off. It was not over-hot, just not cool enough. Very nice pool. Meals were super, individually prepared and very tasty. Wide range of items, different each meal. Nice wine selection, too. WiFi, in the restaurant, was excellent. Staff was friendly...

I stayed at Talari for five days and came to relax, bird, and paint. I was so busy trying to identify all of the birds that zipped and hummed by that I barely had time to eat. The breakfast is generous and very good (eggs, toast, fruit salad, juice, excellent coffee). Dinners are fancy, delicious, but a bit pricey $18-22....

We spent one night at Talari Mountain Lodge. The rooms are very basic and could do with some sprucing up, but the restaurant is located in a wonderful open air area and the food is outstanding. The pool is also very nice. WiFi is located in the restaurant area. We are birders and that is why we stayed here. We...
