My boyfriend and I found this place by accident just looking for a quick stop between La Fortuna and Playas Del Coco. I am so happy we stopped! We had a flight of beers to sample each and every one that they brew. I don't know if I could pick a favorite! The amber, the red, the chili, the coffee...

I can't say enough good things about this establishment. This is truly a family-run business, with JP, his wife and three kids running the show. I'm not gonna lie and say it was the best micro brew I've ever had, but when compared to the local options in Costa Rica it is miles ahead of the the competition. I especially...

Our stay was awesome! Pay the extra money for a lake view. Give yourself a few hours to enjoy the pool, beer and beautiful views. I would have loved to know the history of the hotel! It's a gorgeous structure! They could beef up their poolside lounging area (not a lot of seating) and we would have loved the opportunity...

Great beer, breathtaking views, super friendly and accommodating staff! We are so glad we stumbled upon this place while in search of skateparks in the area - of which Tilawa is the only one and it is one of the best we've ever been in! I am a craft beer fiend and have visited as many microbreweries as I could...

The beer is amazing and a fun spot to stop by for a drink but that is all. The rooms and grounds are poorly maintained. The pool was not clean or working. I would highly recommend for a drink/bit to eat but would not recommend staying the night.

Went here twice after happening on it while driving around Lake Arenal. Family owned - met two of the family members from CR, who's father is from Louisiana! As a serious beer aficionado, they are making tremendous craft beer in-house. I got a personal tour of the downstairs (walk out basement also with incredible lake views) brewery. The IPA is...

While staying by the Lake we stopped here for lunch and had the best Tacos. If you order the special which is 6 tacos you can get 3 different varieties and feed 3 people or 2 people with a big appetite. The beer was good and the staff friendly and efficient. The view was excellent. All in all a great...

was traveling from Monteverde to the Tabacon Hot Springs, after driving on bumpy dirt roads for over an hour we spotted the Micro Brewery sign so we decided to stop, very friendly staff greeted us and gave us a flight of beers to try, we also had lunch which was very good, the restaurant is up on a hill overlooking...

Stopped for beers and appetizers one night. The beers were all quite good, the red ale has an especially unique flavor blend. Also, the fact you could fill up a "growler"(two 1 liter sized plastic bottles) made the trip worth it. The staff was friendly and attentive, although the owner was quite intoxicated and making a spectacle of himself all...

We had a great time at the restaurant where we overlooked the lake, sampled their beer and had a wonderful meal. We shared the guacamole and a burger. Both were fabulous. We even took two 'growlers' of beer with us for later in the trip. The staff was fabulous and very attentive. The food took a bit longer than expected...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Is the crown jewel of a 15-acre organic farm and world-renowned green-energy education center in Northern Costa Rica. With dramatic red-ochre pillars and colorful walls adorned with hand-painted frescos, the 21-room hotel overlooks hundreds of acres of Costa Rica's protected jungle and the rainbow shores of beautiful Lake Arenal. Our closest neighbors are toucans and parrots, howler monkeys, sloths, armadillos and occasionally, wild cats such as the Puma Jaguarondi. Also home to Costa Rica's first microbrewery, Lake Arenal Hotel serves farm-fresh food at its on-site restaurant, La Huerta, with an international menu. Come enjoy the relaxed ambience, delicious food and what many of our customers say is the "best beer in Costa Rica" produced on-site by Lake Arenal Brewery. A tennis court, swimming pool, Jacuzzi and fully-equipped classroom are just some of the hotel's amenities. Two flat-screen TVs in the bar/restaurant and free high-speed wifi throughout the facilities make your stay at Lake Arenal Hotel modern and comfortable. Just one-and-a-half hours from Liberia Airport and three hours from the San Jose Airport, Lake Arenal Hotel offers a wide variety of on-site activities and day-tours, including waterfall hikes, horseback riding, sailing trips, kite-boarding lessons, river rafting, zip-lining, rappelling and day-trips to the nearby volcanoes and hot springs. ... more   less
