I came back to stay at my favorite guest house, Dev, because it feels like a home and because Ruth is awesome! This place is always clean too. I love the family atmosphere. It's a great area to walk around in, away from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. I came in January and the rooms can get cold. Either...

It's a fairly simple budget guest house, though certainly not at the very bottom of the range. Rajinder and Ruth as so friendly, helpful and welcoming, I just didn't want to leave. I feel that they are friends I want to keep in touch with. There's a nice garden, and you can cook for yourself in the kitchen if you...

I stayed a few days when I first arrived in Kathmandu, and was made to feel incredibly welcome. Ruth is lovely and made me feel at home. Comfy rooms and warms showers. Good value for money if you need somewhere away from the chaos of Thamel.

What makes this place great is really two things: 1) Ruth is a very warm and generous person. Made me feel at home...talked to me as if I was talking to my aunt. Talked to me every morning over breakfast and every night after I got back from exploring the city. Lent me an umbrella, spoon, hot tea, anything that...

Ruth and Rajendra welcome you into their home. Simple, clean, spacious bedrooms, kitchen, and shared baths in the 3 floor house in a garden setting. The neighborhood is quiet and upscale with many nice restaurants in easy walking distance.

Out of way and off the main road so it is quiet. Good sized room with a decent shower. Staff were incredibly friendly and kind. Breakfast each morning with room. Dinner is available in the evenings. Close to Restaurant Row Road. Would stay there again

I was living in this guesthouse for more than two months. I would recommend the place to everyone who is looking for a longer stay in Kathmandu. Thamel is a great location for backpackers, but after a few days, the crowd of tourists and seller becomes very annoying. Patan is in the south of Kathmandu and most expats are staying...

Hmm.. I was not really happy with the stay. The rooms were so hot you could not sleep at night, and there was not hot water. I stayed at the top room, it was awful. The location however is nice, but I will not recommend it at all. There are other places i would rather stay than dev.. Simply not...

If one is looking for a tranquil, high-quality stay in Kathmandu, I humbly and whole-heartedly suggest Dev Guest House. Attached bathrooms, multiple kitchens, laundry service (included in price) very nice family/staff and included breakfast. The Thamel (tourist) area can become quite over-whelming after a night or two, so if you are staying in Kathmandu for longer than that you may...

“The rooms in the second building sometimes have no water. This is not the fault of the guesthouse but caused by the general water scarcity in Kathmandu in the end of the dry season. But there is also a public bathroom in the first building if this is a problem. The best location are the rooms on the balcony in the second building. I spend most hours working with my laptop on the balcony and hereby met all the people passing by.”

“Barking dogs are a problem in all of Nepal so if you are a light sleeper ask for a room that is quieter as the barking dogs can be an issue. This is the case in all of Kathmandu...even 5 star resorts”
